Pete Buttigieg Makes Clear He Still Won’t Be Doing His Taxpayer Funded Job

Townhall-

After secretly taking two months of paternity leave without appointing an acting secretary, in the middle of a supply chain crisis, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has declared he will continue to focus on issues unrelated to his taxpayer funded job.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is aiming to use the fierce criticism he faced from conservatives over taking paternity leave as a way to have a conversation about the issue, amid efforts from the White House to get paid family leave into a social spending bill pending in Congress.

“The negativity was unfortunate but, in a way, maybe some good comes out of it too because it’s helped us have a conversation about parental leave,” Buttigieg said this week.

During an interview Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Buttigeig said that “paid family leave is important” and noted that “it’s not a vacation.” Separately, on CNN’s “State of the Union,” he said it’s work that “every American ought to be able to do” when they have a new child.

He has stressed that paid leave is still work when asked on ABC’s “The View” how to shed the stigma around paternity leave.

The criticism of Buttigieg isn’t about the issue of paternity leave, it’s the fact that the former mayor isn’t doing his job as a Cabinet secretary in a time of crisis. His position doesn’t involve advocating for paternity leave, but instead figuring out how to get nearly hundreds-of-thousands of shipping containers — currently sitting at ports — unloaded and moved to market as quickly as possible.  more here

  1. That’s so common with Left Wing politicians. “Doing something”, anything at all, should count as doing their job. Remember when San Francisco banned happy meals instead of fixing roads? That was “doing something”. Hard work is hard, so instead, do something that’s easy and tout it as doing your job. Pete shouldn’t be castigated for not doing his job because he’s “doing something”.

  2. It’s no longer about doing one’s job for these people. It all boils down to furthering their social engineering agendas, supporting their deviancy and destroying America in everything they do. NOTHING they do is in the best interest of the American people. Not one positive thing has come from the current administration. NOT ONE!

  3. His job is not what he identifies his taxpayer paid job as, it’s his preferred pronoun named job, dependent on wind direction and position of the stars each day. He’s doing the best he can.

  4. Does anyone really think the former may of South Bend is even capable of dealing with the supply chain crisis? C’mon, man! His experience in transportation is trying to reach the pedals of his mom’s car and still see over the steering wheel. The guy is a joke. Stay home. Forever.

  5. One of the handful of people I wish I could meet so I can slap. Pete Butticheeks. And maybe go as far as hitting his parents with a shovel.
Wait, are they his real parents or was he purchased, too?

  6. I understand the anger at this polesmokers decision to play mommy instead of doing his job, but explain to me why we need a politician, a lazy fucking bureaucrat to fix this. The blame lands squarely at the feet of the Longshoreman’s union. Lazy union fucktards who haven’t missed a paycheck or a bonus in the last year and a half.

  7. Ten years from now we will see two dysfunctional “dads” not living with each other anymore and a dysfunctional, confused kid as a result! What a shame to treat kids like that!
