NYP: It must have come as a shock to Philadelphia Democratic Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon when, in the middle of a sunny Wednesday afternoon, two armed men ordered her out of her Acura and drove off, taking her purse and government-issued phone with them.
Scanlon was the second Democratic lawmaker carjacked in 24 hours. The evening before, Illinois state Sen. Kimberly Lightford’s car was stolen in a Chicago suburb.
Scanlon and Lightford are surely surprised. But the real surprise is that it has taken so long for a high-profile Democrat to have her car stolen. Grand theft auto surged nationwide in 2020, according to FBI statistics. It’s continued to rise in major cities like New York, where thefts are up 14% relative to this time last year; Philadelphia, 15%; and Chicago, 7%. more here

Gooollie!
They were mugged by reality.
The truth is much worse — they allowed themselves to be swayed by mob rule last year (Defund the police, no bail money, no prosecutions for thefts under $950, etc.), and now their cities and the rest of us are reaping the whirlwind.
If our political leaders are swayed by the mob, then what good are they?
Suicide via stupidity.
I have to correct the headline: Liberals don’t learn
No, they will never learn. Blinded by ideology.
When you drive an old beat up car they avoid you. An old clunker is the safest mode of travel. My kind of car.
Two dem lawmakers in 24 hours?
Sounds fake, no?
Didn’t happen. It’s a “left wing conspiracy”.
Let the games begin.
It used to be ‘crime doesn’t pay’, then the liberals took charge and changed all that.
@Deplorable 2nd Class — We’re on the same page! My two cars, a 2008 and a 2009, have dings and dents and duct tape. I’m confident we’re safe from this sort of crime.
