California, like New York, is being systematically destroyed by its capricious governor, Gavin Newsom, who seems to be thoroughly enjoying his current tyranny over the state’s population.
Like NY, CA has been among the most COVID-restricted states. Kids must wear masks in school, which is soul-crushing and dangerous. Everyone must be vaxxed and, according to Newsom’s decrees, must show proof of being fully vaccinated to enter his favorite restaurants, bars, schools, or stores.
The thing, though, is that restaurants are wise. Practically none of them is bothering to invade its patrons’ privacy by demanding to see such proof. As for those that do ask to see their customers’ proof of vaccination? Americans do not take kindly to such Hitleresque tactics. Even if vaxxed, those customers will probably not return to that establishment. While millions of people have succumbed to the government- and media-generated fear of COVID, millions more have not, and will not.
One way to protest is not to patronize any establishment that requires guests to “show their papers.”
Law enforcement in Southern California is not enforcing this ridiculous mandate, either; the sheriff of Los Angeles has made clear he will not waste his officers’ time on such nonsense. Similarly, there is zero evidence that community police are enforcing it. So the restaurants who are submitting to the absurdity of it all justifiably will lose business. Mask mandates are laughable, not at all based on any science, and vaccine mandates are even more pointless. more here
SNIP: The restaurants that demand your ‘vax-ports’ with glee are probably the ones whose employees spit on your food when you send your order back for corrections.
I would submit that having an alarm go off to warn others not to shake their hand if they leave the restroom w/o washing their hands it would do more for public health than any of this shit. Not that I want to give them any ideas and have them install monitoring cameras, but it is how I feel about this.
The government’s mandates would be impossible to enforce without the coerced agreement of the business owners to do the dirty work.
An activist friend in Santa Monica posted about their City Council meeting a couple of days ago, in which ‘vax passports’ were discussed. Of course SM is completely surrounded by L.A. which does require proof. One of the council members – whom I voted for before leaving – argued that restaurants are losing business because people fear going to them because they DON’T require proof of vax.
Fortunately there was rebuttal, including Constitutionality.
And… they passed the buck, leaving the decision to the City Manager. Which makes it pretty likely.

I know four restaurants in my state that closed down and they didn’t close down because of shutdowns, although we did lose a few because of that ignorant bullshit. They gleefully told you that you could not enter without a mask and if you didn’t like it take your business elsewhere. So people took their business elsewhere and when they had no customers they started begging to help their small business and their employees who were going to be without a job.
3 of the 4 refused to ever lift their mask mandate and when they announced they were closing blamed all of those selfish people who didn’t care about anyone’s health.
1 made a last ditch effort to say you could enter without a mask, but still called those forcing them to risk their health were selfish. Not an apology, so they shut down and also blamed all the selfish people who put them out of business and their employees out of a job.
I didn’t feel sorry for them at all, we are a conservative state for the most part with way too many RINOS, but the majority of people don’t take bullshit to give you money. A lot of convenience stores, furniture stores, restaurants, etc. learned that a few years ago when they started putting signs on doors that said no open or concealed carry allowed. The majority ended up shutting their doors, those that didn’t ended up removing their signs.

I have developed an aversion to being in the same room with vaxxed and masked people mainly because they are a big reason the government feels empowered to kill us all.

Who taught them this? The laughable part is that our Constitution does not entitle the Federal Government to regulate corporations. But the States may, according to their own constitutions.
This usurpation of State’s legal power by the Federal Government is one of the biggest, never-discussed issues in this country.

It’s possible, though, depending on what things look like in a week or two, that I may start wearing a mask in busy places. It will actually be a respirator, though, not a mask, and it will have an exhalation valve but no filter for outgoing. Just a pair of P100 inhalation filters.
The reason? Although I’m not particularly frightened by the omicron (if it even exists), I would rather not catch it either. The vaxxed and boosted can be carrying a snootful of evil magic insta-murder radioactive death cooties and not know it. So, I’ll filter THEIR shit out of MY air. If they’re worried about my stuff, they can get their own respirators.

They piss me off, but I also don’t want to be in a room with them because of not knowing exactly what they’re spreading.
I spent 2 weeks in Seattle during the holiday periods. Worse experience ever. All restaurants demand to see your card. They are crazy about mask, and flying was like being in jail. I think the people there feel that there rectal emissions smell like saddle wood. All this is so ridiculous as it is just theater.
Our Sheriff made it perfectly clear to our community that the Sheriff will not be showing up to any business that demands a customer to wear a face mask or show vax card, they will not respond. One business here learned their lesson the last go-around. We have a Sheriff that grew a pair. One grocery store in town, the door greeter got their tires slashed – twice. New tires were slashed. Got another set of tires and they got slashed. People are getting even.
It’s great to try to enter a restaurant, and if they ask for your papers, simply tell them that you will take your business elsewhere. When these establishments see how much it is costing them in terms of lost patronage, maybe they will reconsider their ridiculous position.
I worked at Ft. Myers mess hall when I was in High School.

Later, as a plumber, I worked in the kitchen areas of Cafeterias and Carry-Outs.
Based on those experiences, I wouldn’t eat in a restaurant for love or money.

I went to N. Cal over the holidays, the region they call the state of Jefferson. I think I saw 2-3 masks the whole time. Nobody cared what Sacramento decreed.
If asked to produce a vaccine card, the proper thing to do is turn around and walk out. Of course, on the way out you want to make certain the other patrons understand that with all the rats and roaches you’ve seen there, Covid is the least of their worries.

By choice, not demand, all in my family don’t attend any on-site eateries anymore and have boycotted those which install tyrannical practices against consumers. Neither do we buy/order and goods or food online from any of those pro-mandate businesses. The small mom and pop biz gets our money on and off-line.
