“Not sure where this ‘parents-should-control-what-is-taught-in-schools-because-they-are-our-kids’ is originating, but parents do have the option to choose to send their kids to a hand-selected private school at their own expense if this is what they desire,” the deleted post read.
It continued: “The purpose of a public education in a public school is not to teach kids only what parents want them to be taught. It is to teach them what society needs them to know. The client of the public school is not the parent, but the entire community, the public[.]”
The comments echoed a sentiment expressed by failed gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe during a campaign debate last October. “I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach,” then Gov. McAuliffe said during a debate with now Gov. Glenn Youngkin. McAuliffe’s statement is widely attributed to derailing his campaign.
Commenting on the Democrats’ social media post, American Federation of Children Director of Research Corey D’Angelis said on Twitter: “They didn’t learn anything from Virginia. (The) Michigan legislature passed two bills to fund students instead of systems in 2021. But Governor Whitmer sided with the teachers union monopoly.”
D’Angelis encourages parents to support a petition to override Whitmer’s vetoes, saying Michigan Student Opportunity Accounts would enable families to access open schools, tutoring, and other tools to address learning loss and meet students’ individual learning needs.

Yes, that’s true, and is EXACTLY why govt schools are a terrible idea. Govt schools are the self-perpetuating part of collectivism: Collectivism is necessary for their to be govt schools, and govt schools indoctrinate and condition children into collectivism.
DMTARDS THINK THEY CONTROL US ALL!!! 🖕 👿 🖕
mm hmm
Keep your children out of the government school systems.
Part of the reason — perhaps the greater part — for ever-rising school taxes is to prevent parents from choosing a private education for their kids. How many families can afford to pay both the school taxes AND the tuition of a private school?
“Parents do have the option to choose to send their kids to a hand-selected private school at their own expense if this is what they desire”
Too bad we don’t have the option of refusing to fund the brainwashing and indoctrination centers that our government schools have become.
We control the horizontal, we control the vertical. We can shape your children into anything our imagination can conceive. Becoming part of the collective hive & learning the democratic process. But some people think they demand anything they want, just like spoiled little children.
Walk in hospitals demand treatment by their terms, walk into schools & demand their children are taught a certain way. First problem, the never learned manners.
Now we know why the teachers unions fight so hard to keep school vouchers out of the hands of parents.
Yes, parents can homeschool or private school but the truth is government is taking money for something they’re not doing then.
Vouchers would solve this problem and it would also solve the quality of education.
Voucher should be withheld if the kids can’t do the basics at their age levels.
Ok, I’ll bite. What does the “public” want that the parents don’t? Does the “public” NOT want children to be able to read and comprehend? To write in a coherent and grammatically correct manner? To be able to add/divide/multiply/subtract without needing a calculate? To understand how to think for themselves … Oh, that must be where the problem is. The “public” (aka leftists) don’t want our children to be able to rationally think for themselves. I guess the same holds true for understanding history and government (non-socialist). Don’t let them know how much of a failure socialism/communism/fascism are all.
DavidW, off your meds today? Your comment could not be further from the truth if you tried. Thats the problem, your so for gone, theres no coming back.
Anon above^^^
How so?
Details please.
” your so for gone” Public schooled?
How many young adults with a public school education cannot read the Declaration of Independence because it is written in cursive?
My brother and I recognized this dynamic somewhere around 1973 – 1975 and just quit showing up except to take tests. Unless we felt like it, like there was a cute girl in one of our classes. My mother was absolutely livid. The teachers and principal told her that we had anywhere form 45 on up absences per semester but were still getting among the highest test scores so they didn’t see what they could do about it. We were on honor roll most of the time, but didn’t have much of a presence in the brainwashing that was just gaining traction in those days.
It kicked my ass hard when I got to college and had Calculus, Physics, Chemistry and engineering classes and actually had to show up then do eight hours of homework on top of that. But I outsmarted them again and got a job sitting at a desk on a bridge opening the drawbridge two or three times per shift and basically getting paid to do my homework.
I was so happy when President Trump hired Betsy DeVos to head the Education department. She tried to get school vouchers passed. The teachers unions fought her like a drowning person fights the lifeguard. I think she would have succeeded if given another 4 years.
The upside I see from this scary Demonrat marxist mindset is that it may finally be waking up my least favorite voting block. Suburban educated women.
Suburban women have set the nation and freedom back decades because they are so in love with Demonrats
Maybe they are finally getting red pilled by being replaced by the state, queers, and trannies.
