Pelosi committed to making Daylight Savings permanent

Newser-

he good news for anyone who hates switching their clocks twice a year: Nancy Pelosi is on board with making daylight saving time permanent, and the Hill reports the proposal passed by the Senate on Tuesday is racking up bipartisan support in the House. The bad news: Pelosi hasn’t committed to taking up the legislation any time soon, noting that Ukraine remains front and center for lawmakers right now. In general, she sounded positive though, saying, “I think it’s not going to be much of an issue for us. But we have to socialize it in our caucus, and our Congress, not just the caucus.”

  1. As LCD pointed out before, we won’t get another hour of sunshine — we just take it from the morning. Just wait until they do it and people start having problems in the morning.

I know what will happen: they will blame it on the Republicans.

Is there some law that says that politicians aren’t allowed to think these things through before they do something?

  2. Having lived in the two states that don’t idiotically change their clocks (Arizona and Hawaii), I am all for this 100% and though it isn’t a critical topic, it doesn’t need to be “socialized,” Just pass it and move on–you absolute drunken sot.

  3. We don’t want to do anything that detracts from us from the immediate crises. Sure, it is trivial and would take only 15 minutes. We need to keep the focus on important sh*t like Jan 6

  4. My personal belief is that the entire planet should be on GMT, and fuck all the goddamn stupid ass time zones altogether Right now, it’s 1720 Zulu time, and I’m fine with it being the time where I live too.

  5. Only problem is that all the computers and smart appliance change the time automatically. So if they pass this bill, you will have to go around and change the time back, or have half your clocks telling you the wrong time.

  6. I’m totally in favor of not changing the clocks twice per year but I’d rather make STANDARD time permanent instead of DAYLIGHT time.

Ideally, I’d be happiest with world-wide GMT. @TheMule and I are in agreement on that.

But then again, I know I’m an outlier here. I keep my computer, phone, and bedside clock set up to display 24-hour (military style) time of day.

    Right now, it’s 1540 (3:40 p.m.) EDT, or 1940 UTC/GMT

  7. It has been 4 days now and my body is still on the old time.

Keep it one time and schools should make Winter class 1 hour later.
Don’t stay an hour later, just compress the day, don’t make up that hour.
Just do away with CRT & gender horseshit and you will gain an hour.
Quit hating whitey, you can’t beat us anyway.

Winter generally sucks and schools start later due to weather events anyway.
When the sun comes back go back to regular school.
    Simple as that.
Make the choices up to the schools.

    Just stop with changing time…
Like Ray Parker Jr. sings…”you can’t change that”

  8. Juuuust a bullshit excuse and an opportunity for a nuther do-gooder politician to pat himself on the back and “make things better” by bringing it all back in a few years!

    Trust me… it’ll happen!
