It’s not uncommon for the American Thinker staff to learn that emails from readers and writers have vanished into Gmail’s automatic spam filter. It’s extremely irritating but is it deliberate? One study suggests that it probably is. That’s either because the email’s content is obviously conservative or because the email comes from Proton Mail, a site to which conservatives gravitated after the FBI’s partisan crackdown following January 6.
Six years ago, Russ Vaughn authored an American Thinker post revealing that his email box appeared to show a distinct bias in the way Google automatically sorted email:
I decided to clean out my email trash, and after completing the task, I turned to my spam to do the same. But upon clicking into that folder, I made the interesting discovery that almost all of the emails relegated to spam by Gmail’s filters (I have no personal filters in place) had a common thread: Almost all were from conservative sources. In fact, ninety percent of them were from Republican or conservative causes, most seeking contributions.
It turns out that what Russ observed was not limited to his own inbox. North Carolina State University’s Department of Computer Science decided to look into the matter. Fox News reports that it recently published its findings in “A Peek into the Political Biases in Email Spam Filtering Algorithms During US Election 2020.” The results completely supported Russ’s suspicions:

I use Gmail for junk and my internet provider’s email for the important stuff in Outlook. Much better than Gmail. Never understood the attraction.

I don’t know, I get about 15 emails a day on my Gmail account from Trump affiliated sources.
I had to redirect anything I get from Substack out of junk into my primary account-multiple times.
I know it’s Borg mail but it’s easy to set and use multiple accounts. Dammit.
You’re lucky if your email provider doesn’t get hacked and expose all your private info. Years ago my contact list on Yahoo email got stolen and all my friends started getting weird spam messages with my name as the sender.
I switched to Protonmail a few years back, and I’m very satisfied with it. Like anything else, it’s a little different and takes some getting used to, but nothing about it so far is a deal-breaker for me. I do a lot of 3D modeling and graphics work, and there are several sites (like DeviantArt) that won’t allow you to create an account if they’re what you’re using for email. DeviantArt claimed that it was “a security risk” and “widely used for spam”, which is laughable considering how easy it is to create anonymous accounts with other providers like Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo, etc., which they will allow. Protonmail encrypts your emails and doesn’t sell your information, so no one is mining your emails for personal information and marketing purposes (unlike the other providers). I highly recommend Protonmail, and suggest you give it a try.

I use a gmail throwaway account for all the political newsletters, and I can confirm this.
Spam from democrats goes into your inbox, conservative newsletters, Republican campaign emails go to spam, and I have to force them not to using email filters.
Nasty stuff from democrats, no problem, all goes into your inbox and this has been going on since the 2012 election days, at least for me.
