Container ship stuck in muddy bottom of Chesapeake Bay for over a month finally freed

FOX

A container ship that was stuck in the Chesapeake Bay for over a month has finally been refloated, officials said.

The Ever Forward, operated by Taiwan-based Evergreen Marine Corp., was refloated just before 7 a.m. Sunday by two barges and five tugboats.

Officials had made two unsuccessful attempts to dislodge the vessel and removed roughly 500 of the 5,000 containers it was carrying. A full moon and high spring tide helped provide a lift to the salvage vessels as they pulled and pushed the massive ship from the mud and back into the shipping channel. more

  1. Am I the only one starting to think that Evergreen is practicing to bottle up major waterways in the event Beijing decides to make a move? I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that the owners are connected to CCP at this point.

  2. It turns out they loaded Stacey Abrams on the port side as ballast. The entire ship then listed, sliding off the sand it was stuck on and right back into the channel. They quickly unloaded her before she sank the ship in the other direction. She took a large shit on the deck as she was lifted off.
