The monarch butterfly population in Mexico is on the rise again, following several years in which the number of butterflies had dwindled to worrying lows.
In a report from the World Wildlife Fund-Telmex Telcel Foundation Alliance and the National Commission of Protected Natural Areas in Mexico, experts say there has been a 35 increase in the number of butterflies wintering in Mexico’s mountaintop forest compared to previous seasons. More

I can no longer plant or care for a big Garden.
I planted 1/2 pound of butterfly and humming bird perennial and annual flower mix. The plants are 8 inches tall now. I hope to see many butterflies, bees and hummingbirds throughout the summer and fall.
They’re all over the place here. 🤔

Milkweed.
It was all over around where I grew up in NW Indiana. The Monarchs were all over the place.
They stroll thru here 7 miles from the
Gulf of Mexico. I see them coming and going
plus many other types. Last year a freeze killed
most of my hummingbird bush.It did not recover to
have red flowers and the hum birds never came.
This year I am watering & fertilizing the bird bush.
I seem to remember a freak hard freeze in Mexico really decimating the Monarch population. Nineties?
I have my milkweed going. I tag 50 at least every year. Had 1 tag recovered 20 yrs ago
…hmm, Aaron Burr goes to Mexico and we’re suddenly swarmed in monarchs from Mexico.

Nov. 3, 2020, 6am. A beautiful Monarch Butterfly was captured and devoured by a rabid skunk.
That evening and throughout the next day, America experienced a terrible disaster.
Coincidence? I think not.
