Five Guys on the Rays Will Not Participate in “Pride Night”

The five Tampa Bay Rays players pictured below have objected to being forced to participate in a display of support for behavior that goes against their religious beliefs.

That is a good enough reason because personally, I would accept “I just don’t wanna,” as a good enough answer.

Where do people get their balls big enough to think whatever it is they believe in you’re going to simply be used as a billboard so their beliefs enjoy wide-ranging support?

I’m not saying I would, or wouldn’t participate, but it’s my choice to say no. What if I bought a team and I demanded all the players wear an FJB patch on their sleeve? Would that be cool? Why not?

How about if I demanded that they wear hats that had “Eat More Chicken” emblazoned on the side, and that person was a vegan, but I said, “wear it or else”?

You can be the most ardent LBGT supporter, but you would have to agree that someone should not be forced to be as enthusiastic as you are, no?

On Saturday, the team offered another political statement, and this time objections came from the players.

Five Rays players refused to wear the team’s rainbow-colored logo on their uniform, including their caps, as Tampa Bay marked a pro-LGBTQ “Pride Night” against the Chicago White Sox.

The players said they did so to honor their religious faith.

Speaking for the group, Adam noted, “A lot of it comes down to faith, to like a faith-based decision. So it’s a hard decision. Because, ultimately, we all said what we want is them to know that all are welcome and loved here.”

“But when we put it on our bodies, I think a lot of guys decided that it’s just a lifestyle that maybe — not that they look down on anybody or think differently — it’s just that maybe we don’t want to encourage it if we believe in Jesus, who’s encouraged us to live a lifestyle that would abstain from that behavior. Just like (Jesus) encourages me as a heterosexual male to abstain from sex outside of the confines of marriage. It’s no different.

Manager Kevin Cash told the media on Sunday that it did not seem to be a major issue in the clubhouse. The Rays, he added, “want to support our players that choose to wear or choose not to wear to the best of our capabilities.”

One could say, they are not being FORCED to wear the logo.”

Sure they’re not. Just announce that the team is supporting gay pride and thenwatch the canceling by the woke mob when you don’t participate.

I’m sure it’s going in your “permanent record.”

This is why your employer should not pull such stunts. It’s shitty.

  1. Stop using the “God hates the sin but loves the sinners” crap.

The Gospels do not talk about “the Love of God” but rather “the mercy of God.” Search it.

The phrase should read “God hates sin and condemns sinners to death.” But God has loved his creation so much that He has offered MERCY to sinners through the atoning acts of Jesus Christ.

Humans are incapable of understanding Godly love and
thus need God’s MERCY to even be saved from God’s true justice.

Human justice and love will fail every time.

Homosexuality must be rejected because it is aborrent to God’ s creation and a sin against it.

  2. @Tim Buktu — Because those who step into a teaching/leadership role in the church body (although…), have an even greater responsibility for accepting such a role, according to scripture. Better they were never born or better they should have a large stone tied around their necks and thrown into the sea. If that admonition would stop even one clergy member from abusing their authority over the flock…

  3. Five very brave men in face of the wave of decadence have drawn a line!

So should we all, or the downward spiral continues.

    Thank you gentlemen of stature.

  4. this is a free speech issue, not anything at all to do with individual religious beliefs.

regardless of what the issue is, compelling anyone on the team to participate against their will is the problem.

even if the 5 are not compelled outright to participate, why were their names released as the 5 who didn’t want to comply – unless the club wanted to punish non-compliance with their ‘team’ virtue signalling?

  5. there’s something strikingly similar about all these guys … can’t quite put my finger on it …. hmmmmmm

oh, I got it! they all wear blue hats!
maybe the Secret Service better look into their ‘TB’ hats … which I pretty sure stands for ‘Terminate Brandon’

… or maybe it just means ‘Turd Britches’ … which just describes Brandon … yeah, that’s it!
