Shotgun Joe Shuts Down Civilian 5.56 Ammunition Purchases – IOTW Report

Shotgun Joe Shuts Down Civilian 5.56 Ammunition Purchases

Guest Post by Uncle Al

The U.S. Army’s Lake City Ammunition Plant near Kansas City, MO, produces the
5.56 NATO (.223 Remington) ammunition for the U.S. military.  The plant’s excess
production is sold in the civilian market, and represents about 30% of the
M855/SS109 ammo you and I see at our local gun stores and online retailers.

Joey’s puppet-masters are threatening to shut off that supply.  In fact, one
report says that the govt has already informed the plant’s current operators,
the Olin Corporation (a/k/a Winchester Ammunition), that they may no longer sell
any ammunition in excess of DOD needs.

If they don’t think they can get away with taking the guns yet, they seemingly
do think they can choke of the ammunition supply. – Uncle Al

  1. And that’s one of the many reasons every AR in my safe is chambered in Black Out. Well, I got one in 7.62 by 39. All Libtards are ignorant as hell when it comes to guns. Especially the Bubble Headed Beach Blonds on FOX. Eww,, guns, they’re icky.

Well, the cool thing about that platform is, it’s just a barrel change to switch to a different cal. 308 military round, could be in short supply quick. 6.5 Creedmoor. TOOOO popular. Every one wants a Creedmoor. I’d by a .243 barrel just to have on hand. Right now, everyone’s got 243 ammo. Not a bad round.

  3. Well, I’m as ready as I can be.

Some Anti-American 2A-breaking jack-boot or two is going down with me.

I have nothing else more important on my schedule.

    Send bachelors.

  4. @Brad – This guy ships to CA. He has 9mm in Speer GD or Winchester PDX1, but no HST available right now. I have bought HST from him in the past though. The prices are about as good as you can find right now – he used to be one of the cheapest places around and doesn’t gouge on shipping. About the best defensive ammo he has in .45 right now is Silver tips (they used to be the bees knees before HST).

Thanks bro, I’ll hit them up tomorrow, As no one around here has any HST’s. Defensive ammo isn’t as critical when pushing it out of a Glock. But a lot of these new rounds were concentrating so hard on expansion they kind of forgot 1911 feed ramps can be temperamental. I’ve had a couple that will not feed reliably in ANY 1911 I own. They make the opening so large it’s like a knife edge. Never had a problem with HST’s or the old Speer stuff.
    Again, thanks for the tip.

  6. You’re welcome Brad. I’ve bought from him for close to 10 years which I didn’t realize until I logged in and looked at my order history out of curiosity. They always ship quickly and never had a problem with anything I got from them. After reading the article this post was about, I ordered some 5.56 before the prices go up any more. He has a pretty good selection of brass cased 5.56 – I’ve seen steel cased .223 for just a little cheaper, but I think the cost difference is worth it for brass.

I have used ammoseek in the past. This last go around, by the time you read it there, the vendor was out. Crazy times. Two years ago I was paying .47 cents around for 147 grain Blackout. Your lucky if you can find it under a buck now. I just checked and sgammo has it for .97 cents around in bulk. I’ll probably pull the trigger on that as I sure would like to have another 1000 rounds of that before the potential fun begins. Crazy times. Ammo is almost as expensive as fuel. Can’t afford to eat anymore.

  8. Wait until the neckbeards hear this. They will buy up all the 556 and re-sell it for $2 a round. Couldn’t the ammo manufacturer rename it 223 to get around king joes decree.

  9. SGA gets my rimfire business, I buy in case lots.

Other than shotgun slugs and upland and water foul loads, I load my own ammo. Lightfield quit producing their sabot slugs, so I might have to start loading them in a few years.
