Uvalde School Police Officer Prohibited From Saving His Wife

HuffPoo:
A Uvalde school police officer was prohibited from trying to save his wife, a Robb Elementary school teacher, during the deadly mass shooting in May.

His wife, fourth grade teacher Eva Mireles, was one of the two teachers killed in the attack. Nineteen children also lost their lives.

Texas Department of Public Safety director Col. Steven McCraw revealed the details while giving testimony on Tuesday. He also called the police response to the massacre an “abject failure.”

The officer, Ruben Ruiz, arrived at the school after the accused 18-year-old gunman walked into Robb Elementary, KSAT reported. Mireles had called Ruiz and told him that she had been shot and was “dying.”

And what happened to [Ruiz] is he tried to move forward into the hallway,” McCraw said. “He was detained and they took his gun away from him and escorted him off the scene.”

McCraw also criticized school district police chief Pete Arredondo for his handling of the mass shooting. At least three investigations are currently studying the response by law enforcement.

  1. This is an a scandal and a disgrace that rises to the level of it being an obscenity. Just to start things off, this man has the makings of the mother of all civil suits. To not have any obligation to protect is one thing, to actively prevent a man from rescuing his wife does not even leave it open to question.

  2. I’m getting fed up with the bull shit. Training! Disarming a fellow officer so he has no hope of saving his wife’s life has little to do with training. The were there to run interference. We have a bunch of elites that can justify killing young children in an effort to justify disarming us so we won’t eventually shoot them. I wonder what officer Ruben Ruiz’s life expectancy is.
    We can’t let this go.

  3. I seriously do not understand these cops.

You’d have to fucking kill me to stop me from going to my wife or child’s aid.

And I would fucking kill you if you tried to block me.

  4. the levels of cowardice and just being overall complete fuckin pussies is absolutely mind blowing. i am embarrassed for my former profession, at least i was fortunate to have worked with actual real functioning men

  5. Just the fact that we haven’t been reading about those responsible suiciding themselves speaks volumes. What is more damning than their conduct (not to mention indicative of their character) on that day is that they have no qualms taunting the families by adding insult to injury by trying to explain it away.

  6. I can see Consequences. The Immutable Law of Unintended Consequences will not be suppressed or denied. Don’t know what form the Consequences will take, but I can see physical retribution: cars keyed, lawns burned, houses “painted”, car and house windows broken. (KOFF!) “officers” (KOFF!) being molested while on and off duty.
If any of the (KOFF!) “officers” (KOFF!) whine about being butthurt, all I would say is “BEHOLD MY FIELD OF F**KS, FOR IT IS BARREN AND EMPTY, AND I HAVE NONE TO GIVE”.

  7. Todd Herman has a theory he has been espousing that what we are witnessing is God allowing The Party to become so bold that it is undeniable what they represent. That once the tipping point is reached the response is going to be overwhelming and decisive. What I can say is that it sure begs credulity to concede coincidence at this point in history.

  8. I’m officially tipped. I shared a link to a gun blog that a guy claiming to be a resident stated the local didn’t even know who most the cops were in the town for the previous couple months. I’ll try and find it.
To SNS’s point, yea, they’d still be picking up body parts.

“this man has the makings of the mother of all civil suits”

Qualified Immunity will protect all involved and insulate them from any personal liability.

Any time I read about any police reform actions being talked about the first question I ask is, “Will QI be either refined or limited in this proposal?”, if not then it’s just empty noise.

I am, unsuccessfully, trying to make a concerted effort to limit my attention to this whole Uvalde debacle, mostly because it makes me so angry. I got out of LE for the sole purpose of making my life less stressful. But what happened there so inflames the sensibilities of any caring person, sp runs contrary to the duties the cops get paid to provide, and the oath they took to protect the innocent, that it is hard to make any sense of it.

And what makes matters worse is, like all things within the government, we will never get an accurate accounting of what exactly happened.

Everybody and all entities involved have all lawyered up and erected obstacles to any truth-finding.

  10. My wife and I were talking about it and I calmly said “if my kid was in there I’d go get him and shoot anyone who got in my way”. She responded “I know”. You have to remember and take it to heart that the Police have a Supreme Court Decision on their side that says they have “no duty to protect”. If you don’t believe me go look it up.

  11. Those Uvalde cops costumed actors wearing heavy jewelry appear to have a hard time remembering that they should stick only one thumb at a time up their ass.

I just read what I wrote and it sounds like I think they’re all stupid. There may well be some stupid ones involved, but the main problems are cowardice and evil.

  12. My mom called it an abomination. I call it planned. The more that comes out about what really happened, the worse it gets. Any thinking person can see it. The cops that I know in the locale that I live would have never stood down in such a cowardly fashion. Those “cops” were told by someone outside of the community to stand down & let the shooter roam free. Ruben Ruiz apparently did not get the message & for that his wife was killed. Any man worth a damn would & should protect the women, children & those who cannot defend themselves around him whenever he is able. My heart breaks for the families that lost their children & the men who lost their wives to a madman while the “cops” dawdled around outside threatening to arrest parents who were trying to get their kids out of danger. Other ones in the hallway fully kitted out, standing there with their thumbs up their asses while the shooting could still be heard. Sickening.

  13. A society that allows the killing of millions of unborn babies will do anything. What’s a school full of dead children matter when the deep state needs a high body count for pushing the 2nd Amendment over the cliff?
