Major Hospital Chain Faces Antitrust Lawsuit by Florida Doctors

Sharyl Attkisson: The giant HCA Healthcare hospital chain is facing major lawsuits claiming violations of federal antitrust laws.

A group of orthopedic surgeons in Sarasota, Florida is suing HCA and its surgical center alleging monopolistic behavior in the Sarasota market.

HCA also faces antitrust suits in North Carolina after it purchased a nonprofit called Mission Health. more

  1. Well, this hits close to home! I’ve had two major surgical procedures and several minor ones by Kennedy-White doctors, and some of them performed at Doctors Same Day. On top of that the “White” in “Kennedy-White” is a family friend. I’ll have to grill him on what’s going on (from his perspective) next time I see him.

    BTW, I’ve got no complaints at all about the care and attention from the people at Docs Same Day, but I’ve never bumped into the way they do the business stuff.

  2. HCA has recently started popping up in the Daytona Beach-Orlando area, buying existing hospitals and re-branding them. Advent Health is also huge around here.
