Explorers Discover Something That’s Further Underwater Than Biden’s Approval Numbers

Zerohedge

An American undersea explorer discovered the world’s deepest shipwreck ever identified, four miles below the surface of the Pacific Ocean, CNN reports.

On Wednesday, Victor Vescovo, the founder of exploration company Caladan Oceanic, used a deep-diving submersible to locate and identify the USS Destroyer Escort Samuel B. Roberts (DE-413), known as the “Sammy B,” at a depth of 6,895 meters (22,621 feet) in the Philippine Sea. More

All joking aside, the Samuel B. Roberts is one of the fightingist warships in US naval history. Here

  1. We could do a Karnak the Magnificent joke here

    “Bottom of the Mariannas Trench”

    Name me the one thing that further underwater than Bidens approval rating

  2. …here is an exellent play-by-play of the Battle of Samar and the heroic exploits of Taffy 3, the destroyer and jeep carrier flotilla that fought the cream of the Imperial Japanese Fleet including the Yamoto and made them retreat.

    …the Yamoto alone displaced more tonnage than the entirety of the Taffy 3 battle group, but they were REAL men and did not shirk their duty when it mattered MOST, even unto death.

    …as the heroic captain of the Fletcher class USS Johnston, Cmdr. Earnest Evans said when he sailed, “This is going to be a fighting ship. I intend to go in harm’s way, and anyone who doesn’t want to go along had better get off right now.”, and he MEANT it. He was awarded a well deserved, posthumous Medal of Honor for his valiant efforts and total lack of fear in facing down ships that had gun turrets that weighted more than his entire vessel.

    And the Samuel B. Roberts was right there with him, captained by Lt. Cmdr. Robert W. Copeland, who also went down fighting.

    Give that vid a watch. It’s a reminder of what men this County once had, and needs again to save her.

  3. I’m from a Navy family. This means a lot to me.

    Eternal Father, Strong to Save

    Eternal Father, strong to save,
    Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
    Who bidd’st the mighty ocean deep
    Its own appointed limits keep;
    Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
    For those in peril on the sea!

    O Christ! Whose voice the waters heard
    And hushed their raging at Thy word,
    Who walked’st on the foaming deep,
    And calm amidst its rage didst sleep;
    Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
    For those in peril on the sea!

    Most Holy Spirit! Who didst brood
    Upon the chaos dark and rude,
    And bid its angry tumult cease,
    And give, for wild confusion, peace;
    Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
    For those in peril on the sea!

    O Trinity of love and power!
    Our brethren shield in danger’s hour;
    From rock and tempest, fire and foe,
    Protect them wheresoe’er they go;
    Thus evermore shall rise to Thee
    Glad hymns of praise from land and sea.

  4. What a great find, thanks to you great WWII heroes!

    I was Tactical Action Officer on an FFG in the vicinity of the next USS Samuel B. Robert’s when she struck an Iranian mine 14 April 1988. Heroic damage control efforts saved her. Four days later, 18 April, we attacked and sunk most of the Iranian navy starting at 0800, done in time for lunch. See Operation Praying Mantis.

    Thank God we had Reagan as our great CINC. God bless you, sir!

  5. Uncle Al, thank you.

    We had the Knox class (FFs, but you could certainly call them DEs) during the time you referenced; the Oliver Hazard Perry class FFGs (the ones I was speaking of) came in after, in the later seventies.

  6. Courageous men, and some women – bless their hearts, died for our freedoms. Just imagine the courage of our Marines and soldiers had to summon up as they stormed beaches in the Pacific and Europe knowing they could be blown apart or cut in half by machine guns

    Now it is all being forgotten in government, academia, corporations and to some degree even in our military. Meanwhile, the worst in our country scream perversions, anti-American slogans, and the killing of the innocents as a right supposedly guaranteed by the constitution.

    The sorry bastards have no idea that the freedom to do that was bought with blood, from 1775 on.

    The leftists are so eager to claim Jan 6 was an attempt to overthrow the government and ignore the threat to civilization itself that they themselves foment with their sick ideas.
