FOX: Whole Foods founder and CEO John Mackey complained that “socialists are taking over” the U.S. in a Thursday podcast appearance.
Mackey made the statement during a podcast with Reason Magazine. Mackey has a history of criticizing socialist policies and has adopted the term “conscious capitalism” to describe his preferred approach to economics.
“My concern is that I feel like socialists are taking over,” Mackey told host Nick Gillespie. “They’re marching through the institutions. They’re… taking over education. It looks like they’ve taken over a lot of the corporations. It looks like they’ve taken over the military. And it’s just continuing.
“You know, I’m a capitalist at heart, and I believe in liberty and capitalism. Those are my twin values. And I feel like, you know, with the way freedom of speech is today, the movement on gun control, a lot of the liberties that I’ve taken for granted most of my life, I think, are under threat,” he added. more here
Not taking over, took over. Not socialist, communists.
It’s interesting that Mackey sold his company to the biggest corporatist on the planet, and in doing so is perpetuating the very thin he purports to be against.

The socialists have been in charge of the universities since the late 60s. What’s new now is that in the past there was a reluctant accommodation for dissent, for allowing different POV a place at the table for honest debate. That has been replaced by an insipid intolerance for anyone that does not toe the party line, followed by a violent canceling to quell any further dissent.
And if “conscious capitalism” is anything like that ESG nonsense, count me out. Capitalism must be rapacious and predatory (to a degree) in order to spur innovation and weed out the weak, this will offer the consumer the very best roduct at an affordable price.
Has he been in a Whole Foods store? Who does he think shops there? Government workers, academics, and nonprofit staffers with piercings and pink hair, in Birkenstocks and yoga pants. In other words: well paid socialists with first world problems like gluten intolerance.
Socialists? They’re full blown communists and they’ve spent the last half century infiltrating every aspect of our Government getting ready to weaponize it against us. SO now they’ve stole an election, put in place a sock puppet president that’s run by committee. They own the FBI, CIA, DOJ, etc etc. They locked us down with COVID, they’ve raised fuel prices to the point where most people stay home, they’re in the process of creating a food shortage and if you think they going to let a little thing like an election remove them from power you’ve got another thing coming. They gave up on trying to take our guns away so in response they are fielding an army of 87K poorly trained gun toting IRS Agents. Call them what ever you like, but they’re not IRS agents. For perspective I heard last night that that is more fighting men than the Marines currently have. Let’s hope they’re all Tranis. Buy more ammo.
Now complaining because his company has hit hard times and people can’t afford their overinflated prices. He must not have sucked enough progressive dik like the big tech companies did or he would’ve gotten a bailout too.
