In addition to the relatively sturdy Tower of Pisa, the world now has another leaning tower that will eventually lean an inch too far. The Associated Press reports that a famous lighthouse in the northern German town of Bremen has begun to lean dangerously and may soon collapse. Nothing can be done to save the lighthouse.
Because of the leaning lighthouse at the end of a stone jetty that has long needed repair, authorities in Bremerhaven have prohibited ships from accessing the Geeste River. However, Bremenports, the company in charge of the port, has stated that commercial vessels will once again be welcome. Assuming the lighthouse doesn’t fall over on its own, the business plans to demolish it this weekend and rebuild an exact replica.
