Obviously, nurses don’t take vows of oath…..If they do take vows of oath….They are completely worthless, like numerous doctors have proven their own worthiness in very recent months.

Tuff decision for a conservative patient. Do I shoot her in the face and get it over with, of in the gut and let her slide slowly for 15 minutes. I’m going with the gut.
…I can’t pretend to know how it is now in England, but here in the States everyone involved in emergency medicine, from street to surgery, took an oath to aid people to the extent of their God given ability, irrespective of any factor other than it being a human in need, and meant it. Even combat corpsmen aid the prisoners of war at need, men who until recently may have been trying to kill them. In my time on the ambulance I held to that oath, and saw no one I ran with ever do less, police, doctors, and nurses included.
I treated people who did terrible things and people who had terrible things done to them. Sinner or saint, politician or pauper, robber or righteous, it made no difference to anyone in the chain. The courts and the Lord could sort and prosecte later, right now this was simply one of God’s creations in need.
No more, and no less.
We owed that to the Lord who held that oath, the same Lord who provided what skill we had and the same Lord who called us to duty. HE would not accept less.
I don’t even see how Ratched here could KNOW her patient’s politics. People in need of “resuscitation” rarely discuss their ideologies, what with not having the ability to breathe and all. Absent a MAGA button, what criteria did she use? A lack of piercings and colored hair? Nice clothes? A job? And where does this fit into your triage, BEFORE the ABCs or AFTER? Do you start CPR if you don’t know and stop if a John Birch card is found in the person’s wallet?

…And what sort of institution tolerates a person who publicly states she will NOT do her job based on her own private grievances? What if those biases that govern her giving or withholding of aid are against Africans? Is THAT ok? Suppose she hates Jewish people or Pakistanis or Hindis? STILL ok? Perhaps she considers men in suits to be too conservative, or in pinstripe pants? Bankers and lawyers, you OK with this? Seems a bit arbitrary and capricious, and if you allow ONE to do so, how do you NOT allow ALL???
Seems like nothing but chaos will ensue. Chaos…and lawsuits.
And do you think the patient’s family, the kin of the person she lets die, the wife, the children, the mother and father, sister and brother, cousins and nieces and nephews, think THEY’LL be OK with it?
What a Pandora’s box this terrible person opened up. What mistrust she engenders, what faith is lost, every day anyone who makes such unethical and immortal statements stays employed in a role that gives her the literal power of life and death over the helpless and dying? And where does it STOP? Can she unplug the IVs on the elderly who listen to Glenn Beck? Turn off the air to the incubators of the premature babies of parents she saw holding a Bible in her nursery? Let mother and child die a horrible death if the baby breaches in childbirth because the mother made the mistake of wearing a crucifix when the labor pains started?
People don’t come to emergency medicine as a CHOICE. They are unable to pick and choose where they go or who they see. NO person who voices a bias…ANY bias…that will affect their medical judgements for potential patients has ANY business anywhere NEAR patient care, for the safety of helpless patients and the sake of the reputation of the institution.
This woman is a monster.
She must be treated as such.
That thing needs to be immediately fired, and then have her nursing license permanently revoked.

The NHS is a joke, except jokes are supposed to be funny. I lived & worked in England from 1991 to 1993(Canary Wharf, London). I have seen firsthand on how it operates. People think the alphabet agencies here in America are bad, I assure you, the NHS is the worst run bureaucracy on the planet. I used to read the London Times on a daily basis & it was full of stories of how people were dying left & right over the wait times for even the simple things like an ambulance. Some folks had been waiting for 6 months or even longer for a GP appointment. A fella that I worked & drank with, his elderly mum had been waiting for nearly 3 years for hip surgery. There was very recently the case of a 10 year old boy who had done some stupid internet challenge that left him on life support. His parents did everything they could to save him, but a death panel ordered the machines be shut off, even though there were doctors over here who said it was possible he could be saved, if only the NHS would “allow” him to be flown over here. Denied. Because they know better. What the NHS is in England, is exactly what the overlords here want for us. Death panels, rationing, denial of care for certain conditions, because you would just be a burden on the precious system. As the lovely nurse above, people would be judged on how & who they vote for.
