  3. I have a buddy that is married to a Chinese girl and she showed me her version of fried rice. It is a mixture of Jasmine and long grain rice that was cooked the previous day. Use whatever vegetables on hand, celery, mushrooms, sweet peppers, and the required onions, carrots, and peas. Bean sprouts are a nice touch but optional. No MSG but a touch of salt and pepper. Use light Chinese soy sauce to flavor vegies. The cooked volume of vegies should be slightly larger than the rice. The meat can be marinated in a variety of different marinades but needs to be cooked separately as is the egg. A tablespoon of sesame oil and two tablespoons Avocado oil are used to cook the meat and vegies. The egg is cooked with just Avocado oil. Once everything is cooked mix it all.

  4. I gave up rice years ago – too high in carbs. May as well take a cup of sugar and dump it down your throat. Rice is not a very nutritious food, I don’t miss eating 45 grams of carbs in 1 cup of rice.

  5. I love fried rice but I’m more partial to using brown rice than white rice. Peas do not belong in fried rice ever. And definitely no msg. The best fried rice that I ever ate was in the Philippines at bars in Olongapo City. I didn’t ask what kind of meat they used but it was very good. Trader Joe’s has very good frozen chicken fried rice but I pick the peas out, I hate peas.

  6. I love fried rice, but I’ll admit that I don’t have the patience to make it (especially if involves two days to make it!) I don’t want the MSG, so I rarely have it any more these days… I’m leery of the Chinese places that say “No MSG! No MSG!” then I’m jacked up after eating it!
