  1. As kids in the 60s, we spent a fair amount of time and money at the slot car tracks. We sometimes fantasized what it would be like to have the driver’s view. It only took 55 years to become a reality.

  2. Don’s Hobby Shop in Lakewood WA in the 1960’s has a very active league that followed a regular circuit. I think the participants were also inclined to follow the Pacific Northwest Wrestling circuit. Both were very popular pastimes back then.

  3. its easy to sniff at so much time playing with expensive toys, but my folks let me play with computers, taking hours to write a BASIC program for no better purpose than to display lyrics synched to popular songs or have a white block come out of a series of other white blocks assembled to look like a cannon to turn castle-shaped white blocks OFF when it “hit” them, or even startling my Mom when she found out suddenly that I put a primitive text-to-speech card un her 486 so it read her typing out like the WOPR in the movie “WarGames”.

Wasted time and money? You betcha.

But it DID teach me fundamentals of computer logic, assembly language, installing drivers, making disparate systems work together, and how to “Think” like a computer that I was able to parlay into a career in robotics that sustains me to this day.

I don’t know what possible use putting VR cameras on slot cars will ever serve these young men.

But I had no idea what good it was going to do anyone, least of all me, when I waited 10 minutes for my 2600 modem to fully develop the logo page for the Prodigy Network, either.

The Lord works in mysterious ways, and today’s play equips children for tomorrow’s work whether they know it or not.

This video may be used in a retrospective on the inventor of a new transportation system’s life, or herald a new era of drone control that leads to limited lateral thermonuclear warfare, or ways to pick up the kids without ever leaving the couch.

Only God knows what He’s equipping them for.

But never discount the power of play.

  4. My dad built a track in the family room when I was a kid. He had late 60’s Mustang and Charger. I got a Aston Martin DB5. They all had the same motors but I painted my tires with the rubber glue and let them dry. The DB5 got more traction and would outrun dad’s cars.

  5. We had a slot car table that would take up part of the kitchen when we brought it out in the winter. Four lanes and hours of fun. It’s nice to see someone still enjoying this hobby.

  6. I had 1/24 scale slot cars. I built the chassis from brass tubing and soldered the tubing.I had different gears sets also. There was a HUGE 8 lane track near me. The shop inside the track building had a motor called “the screamer”. It cost $15 and I could not come up with that kind of money when I was 10.The old 1960’s 1/24 scale cars & parts go for BIG$$$ on Ebay. HO scales is still big. I have a buddy that makes parts for the tiny cars on a CNC micro lathe and 3d printer. He removes the 2 magnets from the motor and measures the flux strength and matches the green & red magnets to get more power from the motor.

  7. I wish we would have had slot car tracks like this in Junior High in the mid 60’s. Sacajawea JHS on Spokane’s S. hill had a great slot car track set up in one of rooms used for shop classes and a slot car club of which I was a member. Aurora slot cars and tracks were the best for use in our house which my brothers and I played with a lot. And Columbia Cycle the local Schwhinn bike dealer and hobby shop had a very large slot car pay to racetrack in their basement which we would go to as much as we could back then. These 2 guys are ultimate nerds with their slot car setup.

  8. I currently presently not at any point figured out like it’s far even conceivable yet one ccd in everything about partner buddy made $27,000 best (djh-15) inside about a month essentially completing this smooth chance and moreover she has provoked me to benefit. forward-thinking data on visiting following site….. https://shiny.link/7mA6J
