I grew up watching CBS news back in the 60’s and 70’s, CBS was always our go to TV news source. Then in early 1968 during the Tet Offensive at the height of the Vietnam War Uncle Walter changed the narrative to the American people telling us how bad we were doing against the N. Vietnamese commies and that we were losing the battle for Tet when in fact we had actually beat them back. And from thereon it just got worse, Watergate, Nixon’s resignation, the fall of S. Vietnam to the N. Vietnamese commies in the Spring of 1975, the Killing fields in Cambodia, ending with their absolute hatred of Ronald Reagan and later Donald Trump and their total contempt for truth, justice and the American way. I gave up on CBS news when Dan Blather (“What’s the frequency Kenneth”) took over the news anchor position in the early 80’s. I don’t watch any national news anymore, a little bit of Fox news and that’s about it. CBS/NBC/ABC/PBS/NPR etc. all made a deal with the Devil along with the democrap party (as well as RINO’s), academia, hollyweird, popular culture etc. back in the late 60’s and it’s only become worse since then. I want the old pre 1968 (and earlier) America back, we were a lot freer than where we are now under the supposed dictatorship of biden and the democraps.
They lost me with Walter Cronkite sometime between the time I was no longer wearing three cornered pants and learned to ride I two wheel bicycle. My feelings then are the same as they are today, anyone who believes a word they say is a damnable fool.
There was a short satirical (Mother Goose type) poem in an old issue of Mad Magazine in the early 70’s that went; “If wishes were horses, if rides were free, if Huntley were Cronkite, we’d watch NBC.” I still remember that verbatim.
To anyone under 70, there was a very brief time before you were born that corporate media was relatively honest and respected.

Back in the mid to late 60’s just before Christmas CBS at the end of their news broadcast with Walter Cronkite would run a short little cartoon by Tomi Ungerer of a happy little bird singing a happy song and enjoying the wonders of Christmas and joys of the Christmas season. I haven’t seen it since then, but I do remember it well. Does anyone else who is a baby boomer remember this besides me? I always thought it was a nice message just before Christmas.
