Musician Jeff Beck has died suddenly after contracting bacterial meningitis, according to his family.
He was 78 years old.
“On behalf of his family, it is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck’s passing,” his representatives said in a statement. “After suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis, he peacefully passed away yesterday. His family ask for privacy while they process this tremendous loss.”
Beck, one of rock’s legendary guitarists, first burst onto the scene as a member of the British band the Yardbirds. He joined the band as a replacement for fellow guitar legend Eric Clapton in 1965.
Oh no. He was something special. RIP Jeff
R.I.P. Jeff Beck. “Suddenly.”
A black cat must have crossed his trail…
One of my favorites….RIP….

I Ain’t Superstitious
I’ve got a 500 watts per side of about a hundred fifty lbs of Hafler 500s feeding to two separate systems in my house. Not just to enjoy me some Jeff Beck, but they don’t run at more than a fast idle for much else these days. No one can get the tones out of a Strat like Jeff Beck.
A good long life.
Gave all of us pleasure in his music.
Farewell.
I heard. So sad.
He was a giant.
Huge influence on all of us.
All the way back to when we were teenagers.
I’m afraid we’re going to see a lot more of our heroes going.
R.I.P. JB 💜
Jeff Beck and Johnny Depp – This is a Song for Miss Hedy Lamarr
Jeff Beck/Jan Hammer live 1977
Soundtrack of my life at that time.
Oh no! Loved his Flash album. Ambitious was my favorite.
RIP
Have not had the old guitar out in a while. Time to tune up, or down for Jeff. He seemed to play tuned lower than 440.
Listening to Beck/Hammer live album.
I might have been high every night. Yeah I was.
Not very listenable today. Everybody sounds like they were on amphetamines.
Slow down guys.
I feel very fortunate to have seen him twice in my life – He was an amazing guitarist.
What a bummer.
I’m unhappy about Beck. RIP.
I already lost Eddie.
I will really hate it when Clapton goes.
I WILL NOT WORK when Willy leaves. Period.
He put a teenage chick bass player named Tal Wilkenfeld on the map a just a few years ago. Since we can’t link, punch her name into the youtube for the shows he did with her….fantastic.
Always liked the song “Cause we ended as lovers”.
Jeff Beck & Rod Stewart – “People Get Ready” -was just listening to it yesterday.
I am sad. more of our generation gone and no one good enough to replace them.
RIP
Think of the band The Yardbirds. Their guitarists were Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page.
That’s phenomenal.
Just watched this, he was at his best & surrounded by the best.
“JEFF BECK LIVE AT RONNIESCOTT’S”
My all-time fav guitarist. I’ll cherish the Christmas card I got from him.
Mr pinko.
Wow. Really?
That’s an heirloom.
Carlos, was just thinking about that song. Rod on lyrics & Jeff playing. Doesn’t get much better than that. They didn’t have a great personal relationship (according to Rod’s autobiography) but they respected the hell out of each other. And Rod acknowledges that Beck taking him on tour in the US was one hell of a career booster.
RIP, legend.
Mr. Pinko, you can’t just drop the Christmas card comment like that and not tell us the rest of the story!
Well, actually you can, but I’d love to hear about it.
RIP
A fine guitarist and, reputedly, a decent human being (a rarity in celebrities).
