‘Gay clubs’ run in seminaries, says Pope Benedict in posthumous attack on Francis

Telegraph: Gay “clubs” operate openly in Catholic seminaries, the institutions that prepare men for the priesthood, the late Pope Benedict XVI has claimed in a posthumously published book scathing of Pope Francis’s progressive agenda.

In a blistering attack on the state of the Catholic Church under his successor’s papacy, Benedict, who died on Dec 31 at the age of 95, said that the vocational training of the next generation of priests is on the verge of “collapse”.

He claimed that some bishops allow trainee priests to watch pornographic films as an outlet for their sexual urges.

Benedict gave instructions that the book, What Christianity Is, should be published after his death. It is one of a handful of recent books by conservative Vatican figures which have poured scorn on the decade-old papacy of Francis, who was elected after his predecessor’s historic resignation in 2013.The outpouring of new books contributes to “impressions of a mounting civil war in the Church following the death of Benedict XVI”, according to John Allen, a leading Vatican analyst who writes for Crux, the Catholic news outlet. more

  1. Without having read the book (which I don’t think is even available in English yet), it seems to be a collection of essays on a variety of troubling topics, not just (!) the gay and porn issues.

You can find what looks to be a good synopsis of the contents by searching for an article titled, ‘A Posthumous Book by Benedict XVI’ and the site on which it appears: fsspxDOTnews

Topics include Protestantism, recent/current liturgical reforms within the Catholic Church, Modernism, Islam, and the false notion of tolerance.

I look forward to reading it, and hope it includes some better explanation of why he stepped down than he offered at the time. Maybe it was the only way he could ensure he lived long enough to get these essays written and entrusted to a publisher. For now, I am marveling at the thought that the soft-spoken spiritual leader of the oldest church was quietly plotting for years how to have the last word against the cabal that deposed him.

  2. There have been a few books & investigations in Italy about these claims. Many of the accusers were priests, all the way up to cardinals who have come out in order to change.

Many people believe that Benny was put out to pasture Early because he was going after the Pedos with investigations & excommunications.

I really have not been paying any attention esp. AFTER Pope Frankie the Commie from Argentina got in.

(see, more like an election than a church)

  3. Bet I regret posting this comment.

Having spend a very shorttime in seminary before starting my lifetime fast of giving up “organized religion” it was quite the eye opening (as in WTF) experience.

In the fifties and early sixties where could you go to maintain or get respect with no marriage and open season on all kinds of male youth? You know, before being a homosexual was cause for celebration.

Ding, ding, ding! The Roman Catlick Church. A very large pile of sticking dogma as one of my eloquent friends once said.

If there’s a hell I’m thinking there’ll be a very special place for some of the “men of the cloth.”

It did give me the obvious segue into the slightly different lifestyle of wine, women and song, followed by becoming a recovering catlicker. Often wondered what the score sheet would show on people helped or screwed up. Another form of government and just as screwed up if not more. At least I’m not prejudiced or judgmental on the subject. It’s my morning coffee talking.

  5. Galatians 5:19-21 New International Version

19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

End of discussion, God is quite clear. Leaders such as the Pope will be judged more harshly. Leaders can’t turn a blind eye as to what they allow to happen in the organization they are leading. Catholics have been apostate for centuries.

  6. Anymouse,

I personally know 2 former high school people who committed suicide as a primary result of Diddler Priests. Within 2 years 1 jumped down an elevator shaft in 1986 , the other after being societally (sp?) dysfunctional for decades 2018.

    Your good with me.

  7. Where ever there are humans, in every station of society, good and evil exists.
Many deny the existence of Evil, yet they see it everyday.

    Isaiah 5:20
Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

    Acts 26:18

18 to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.’

    1 Peter 3:11
Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it.

To be clear or expand on it.

I was lucky enough to avoid any sexual abuse, but there was physical to include concussion that was treated with me begging for aspirin…

Boarding seminary that was high school aged kids, then to another minor seminary in CA and finally Rome to be ordained at the age of twenty-one. Servites

Ran into one of the “brothers” as an adult and was unable to understand why I didn’t tune him up. Perhaps because he had walked away fro the church also.

They removed the Head Master to “priest prison” and his replacement blew his brains out in cloister.

Fun place that eventually had the property sold to the state of IL who turned it into a juvenile facility.

  9. This one struck a chord and has reminded me of further experiences…

This is the shortened version as full fees to SNS would exceed my budget.

Eighteen years into marriage my wife presented me with twins (yeah we though the gun was empty). And my saintly mother was after us on “when you going to get those kids baptized.” Told her I was thinking of taking them up to the Lutheran Church across from the high school. After recovering and able to move about again I told her I’d take care of it.

Called the local parish to make arrangements and in the conversation they asked where we had been married, to which I replied “Chicago”. They asked “What Parish?” I said “No parish, by a judge at the Cook County court house.” To which they said, “We don’t baptize bastards!” CLICK! Figuring that somebody was having a bad day I decided to wait a week or two and call back again. Same conversation, different person, “CLICK!”

Well, knowing how the sausage is made I determined to get things done and went down the road to the next parish to spread some $$$ and fix things. They agreed to do it if we would come in and discuss getting our marriage “blessed.” Yeah, fine. So wifey and I had a nice sit down with the parish priest discussing things. In it he admitted that he too had been abused in seminary and I should forgive and accept the things that had occurred to me in my earlier experiences and rejoin with mother church. Kept my cool, bit my tongue numerous times and the date was set.

The baptisms were done after Sunday Mass and some of the congregants would stay after to watch and that particular day we were the only baptism being done. Kids were colicky and fussing/crying. Friend priest stopped in mid ceremony to address me with, “I guess your children are as comfortable in church as you are.” They gotta take their shots where they can and as we were leaving the church my one buddy came up with the perfect comment. As one of the godparents he looked at me and said, “Another stinking pile of dogma.”

Have used the line numerous times and he was correct.

With limited royalties paid to SNS for the length.

  10. The AP Interview: Pope says homosexuality not a crime

It’s a grievous sin against God. So much so that God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, and he will destroy the Pope as well. Come out of her my people.
