  1. I read about his breaking his neck in a great book by Kevin Brownlow called The Passing Parade — or something to that effect.

An interesting tidbit: the engine from The General was left where it crashed until it was taken during WWII because the metal was needed.

    I really enjoyed Sherlock Jr.

  2. Keaton was ahead of his time. Charlie Chaplin and Harry Langdon were good, but I think Keaton was tops. There is another one called “Steamboat Bill, Jr.” and has a hat scene that cracks me up and it’s not even close to the physical comedy he was known for.

Just so happened to be going through my laserdisc collection this afternoon looking for a disc…forgot I had the Al Jolson Collection…lol Then again, there is a lot of content on laserdisc that would never be allowed today.

  3. Buster Keaton is my favorite of all time comedian. I love The General, Steamboat Bill Jr. but my personal favorite is Sherlock Jr. I swear that Bugs Bunny stole a lot of the more surreal running gags from Buster Keaton especially with Duck Amuck where Bugs totally befuddles Daffy Duck. Every time I see that one of his movies will be on TCM I will go out of my way to watch it, no matter what time of day or night it is. Thanks for posting this video about the great Buster Keaton.
