39 Comments on Pat Benatar Will Not Sing This Hit Anymore
so a one hit wonder from 40 years ago won’t sing her one hit. this affects me how?
16
Although Pat Benatar never impressed me much with her intellect she was hardly a one hit wonder. I wasn’t even a fan of her music, but I believe she was enrolled in the Rock and Roll hall of fame last year.
13
I saw her at an outdoor concert about 20 years ago at Innsbruck (VA) and she spent half of the concert yammering on about taking time off to care for her ailing husband… Glad he pulled through.

So disappointed with Pat π
She has always put on a jolly good show π
Do these artists really think they are doing us a favor by pulling these kind of attention getters π€ No we are turned off and will tune out
9
Just change the lyrics to fit into the new world of the Gay, Lesbian, Nipple-Ringed, Bi-Sexual, Tri-Sexual, Transgenders…..
Hit me with a cum shot
Why don’t you hit me with a cum shot
Yer new earworm!
16
TL:DR reason – because of ‘mass shootings’.
Okay whatever. I’ll still enjoy it when it comes on the radio. And remember the cheerleaders’ routine at football games way back when.
7
Pat who?
8
I take it the song, The Homecoming Queens’s Got A Gun by Julie Brown on Dr. Demento’s greatest hits album is no longer kosher as well.
10
We saw her a few yrs ago with Loverboy and Journey. Great concert.
Why do these people have to open their mouths and ruin things?
She could have just stopped singing it.
14
Pat was popular when MTV used to play music
13
Dumb is right.
When she sings “Fire Away”, I don’t think she is asking for a guy to shoot her, but the silly dumb twit won’t sing it anyway, lest some liberal blame her for school shootings. Yeah, she’s another dumb entertainer, with not much entertainment chops left in her skeletal old body, which seems to lack a backbone. That song is so old that it’s too old for LA’s 101 Oldies Station, which plays songs that came out in the 1990’s. Who cares?
And the word has lots of other meanings:
Fire in the hole
Fire up the Q
Fire off a letter
Hockey players fire the puck
Fire an employee
Buddhist monk fire
campfire
Fired Up
Fire Dept (saves lives)
Forest Fire
Grease Fire
Arson Fire
Fireworks
Fire Ants

“Pat who?”
“one hit wonder”
Oh, give it a rest, you guys sound like dopes.
Pat Benatar had musical chops and a range most of today’s artists would die for. It does not make you hip to disparage real talent, it only makes you out of touch.
You don’t have to like her music to acknowledge her influence. I’m not a fan of Michael Jackson, Queen, or even the Dixie Chicks, but they had real range and massive followings.
22
I put her up there with Cyndi Lauper. 80’s MTV era star but I never bought their music or went out of my way to hear it.
13
Hit Me With Your Best Shot was also banned from radio play after 9-11.
2
She won’t sing it but she should sell the rights to Moderna and Pfizer.
Better than all the dopes that are prosituting themselves with their dumb coofvax commercials
11
Iβll manage
15
There used to be some very good anti-child abuse videos paired with “Hell Is For Children”.
She went after them hammer and tongs and got them all taken down.
…guess she’s not a fan of child abuse prevention,
…but considering the pedophile Biden she IS a fan of,
I guess its clear why she can’t lend her voice to people who oppose it…
12
Never cared much for female rock singers. That being said, I regard Imogene Heap andJeff Beckβs rendition of Rollinβ and Tumblinβ absolutely brilliant.
6
I liked her. She had several songs I thought were good. Back when mtv played music videos she had some good ones. I donβt remember the titles but thatβs not surprising.
7
One of my favorite clips is Pat singing βLove is a Battlefieldβ with her guitarist/husband Neil Girardo on the Craig Kilborn show. Just an acoustic guitar and great vocals. Great stuff.
9
^^^^Although I’ve said here many times that music has gone downhill since the ’70s, I do have a fondness for some female rock singers; Ann Wilson, Alanis Morissette, Amy Lee, Karen Carpenter, and Stevie Nicks.
11
Correction: Neil Giraldo.
Addition: she’s so cute in that video. Nothing to hide behind, no autotune, just the acoustic.
If music was your thing and you grew up in the advent of cable, the second video that aired on MTV when it launched was Pat Benatar.
6
She just hit herself with her best shot.
14
I’m not a tremendous fan, but if I was going to be a one hit wonder, I would want to be this type—
In the United States, she has had two multi-platinum albums, five platinum albums, and 15 Billboard top 40 singles, while in Canada she had eight straight platinum albums, and she has sold over 35 million albums worldwide. She is also a four-time Grammy Award winner.
She was so big in the 80s that there was a joke about her in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. They pointed out that many of the girls had the Pat Benatar look.
^^^^^ her and Bette Midler, the essence of tolerance.

Benatar if absolutely Great.
I don’t agree with her reasoning as I personally interpreted the song as a song about resilience, strength & positive attitude.
However, it has been beaten to death and i like many of her other tunes better.
Give it a few years and she will bring it back once in a while.
Trust me, I’m NOT a DOCTOR.
5
If I pay my hard earned money to see someone from the past sing, they had better belt out their flagship songs. That’s what I’m paying for.
3
Imagine ZZ Top not singing La Grange because it’s about a whorehouse.
5
Way to crap on your fan’s heads, and throw out the hit that made her the belle of the ball. Until this hit, she was literally just another face in the crowd.
So, apparently, she wants to ensure she just fades away. Now, even faster.
Benatar was a pivotal rockstar for a couple of prime years in the day, but this is, as billed, just dumb.
You can take the rock star out of Jersey, but you can’t take Jersey out of the rock star.
And btw, it’s about 35 years too late for her to be “making statements”. She hasn’t had chart hit since the late 1980s. When you’re living off the legacy of a 5-10 year era at the peak, ejecting one of your biggest hits from one of your biggest albums, from that brief span when you were at the pinnacle, is supremely stupid.
She should just retire completely, and see how little anyone cares.
5
She’s a 70 something year old musician, vocalist that lives in a sound chamber of 70 year old musician, vocalists. I’m not going to hold her entire career accountable over something stupid she’s recently said. She’s convinced that what she said would boost her now non existent career. The sound chamber agrees and madly
applauds. Jane Fonda said last Friday that all pro life legislators should be murdered. And the quickly adjusted her dentures.
I guess my point is the left parades out all these old dinosaurs as if they’re legit to drive home their liberal agenda. Fuck them. That won’t keep me from watching Comes A Horseman.
5
Mostly above your paygrade, if your unfamiliar with a person or subject best to leave it be. But of course the 5 ye ole in you takes over, open mouth insert foot. Her song, her choice. Don’t like it, tough shit.
βMostly above your paygradeβ. The only time Iβve heard that is from someone that is blowing smoke about their own lack of knowledge.
4
joe6, the “paygrade” comment is usually used by a slacker to get out of work…
“That’s above my paygrade”
3
I think my favorite one hit wonder was Ram Jam.
5
Loco, wasnβt it obama that made that comment totally irrelevant?

She had a great blues album.
“Hell is for Children” is groomer-phobic?
