  1. Oh hell no. Nor Chicken Nuggets, or and Lab Grown meat.

I read today the The American Cattleman’s Association has confirmed they are going to start injecting your steak with the Mrna. Could be bull shit, IDK. Worth checking in to.

  2. When my buddy was running a coastal steamship for Western Pioneer between Bristol Bay and Seattle my freezer always had 25 lb cases on King Crab clusters and opilio or bairdi crab. I would pick him up and my Ranger was tail dragging all the way back to Tacoma from Harbor Island or Lake Union.

Never cared much for surimi, some people like it though.

    True Story
    More than 20 years ago
There was this All You Can Eat Place
    King Crab AYCE
Willing to wager I ate a case worths every visit.
Their Butter well was also incredible.
Something I will probably never see again (or taste)
But it’s on my bucket list.

ps: to all non-crabbers. Do not be fooled if your all you can eat buffet sells snow crab as king crab. Iy is not the same.
    FYI

  4. I will tell you that a good friend treated me to all you can eat crab legs twice, once at a chain restaurant annd the other at a Tribal casino and surimi is much better. I don’t remember the name of the restaurant, but the crab was pretty pathetic. It was a meal they really looked forward to about five or six times per year, it was a big deal for them to invite me and I was a gracious guest.

Nothing worse in my book than some son of a bitch that shits all over someone who is doing something nice for them.

My buddy used to bring cases of snow crab down that was out of this world. The absolutist best thing he brought was halibut cheeks. Big ones that fit a hamburger bun and weighed about a third pound each and Bristol Bay Red King Crab. The Philippinos would freeze king salmon round on a plate freezer and they gave him as much as he wanted. We would trade it to the local fish market and they gave us back kippered salmon. He also would bring down burlap sacks of black cod that we got half back smoked. They sold the rest and it was a good deal for them too.

I always had shatter packs of Tru Cod here and just rolled it in seasoned corn meal and fried it.

  6. There was a riverboat I went past once before going across a bridge. Stopped for the Buffet they had billboards advertising on the Interstate I was on. It was a casino riverboat and they had a big buffet. It was the 2nd best crab legs ever had. The first best being, obviously, the Real King Crab legs and backfin meat cavity. These 2nd besters were shaped similar to Snow Crabs but about 10X bigger. Do not recall the name. To illustrate the difference from the normal sized snow crab legs to these 2nd besters. The 2nd bester legs were so long that they didn’t fit inside the buffet trays. The pointy ends stuck out over the edge. Tasted good too.

    Good Times

  7. Crabs are just water-breathing bugs.

Some fish not fit for human consumption:
    Swai
    Tilapia
    Orange Roughy

Pro tip: Avoid the “Catch of the Day” at restaurants.
Also- Shark is sometimes substituted for “Swordfish.”

  8. Funny story, when I lived in Alaska one of my best friends decided to break away from the oilfield and get on a crab boat. He did really well for a couple years, during that time he came to town (Anchorage) and had more crab than anyone could eat. He eventually had to get back on his boat and his roommate ended up working for a couple months without coming home. Once he did, he opened his refrigerator and nearly puked from the smell. I went over there 3 days later and the neighbors were still complaining. Bottom line, don’t be a roommate with a crab fisherman.

Those big snow crabs were probably opilio or bairdi. There are a lot of smaller snow crabs. Bairdi and opilio are absolutely delicious. I made enchiladas from them quite often. We had a recipe for risotto that was out of this world too.

I used to always have cultured butter that I got from a friend that I used on my toast on weekend mornings. It was so good. I have never really eaten butter on crab, but my mother did and she said that combo with Bristol Bay Red King was something she never imagined could be as good.

  10. Years ago I traveled for work down in Maryland around St Inigoes. We ended up at a place called Evans Seafood House on St Georges Island. Right on Chesapeake Bay, fisherman pull right up to the dock with the catch of the day. The hush puppies were delicious.

  11. My dad’s family in and around Crisfield MD were all commercial fishermen. My Aunt M would take me to the docks were she would yell at the returning fishermen ‘what you got for me today’. Absolutely the freshest sea food ever especially the soft shelled crabs.

  12. I’m about a 30-minute drive from all the blue crabs I can catch and they’re free as long as you have a fishing license. I haven’t done that in a long time, though. People around here seem to love BBQ soft-shelled crabs. I prefer fried shrimp and fried crawfish tails.

  13. No bugs (shrimp, crabs, lobster)
    No slugs (snales, squid, octopus)
    No guts (liver, brain, sweetbreads)
No chicken (stock, broth, nothing that tastes or smells of the nasty bird)
