Turkey’s Erdogan cancels election rallies for health reasons

Ekathimerini: Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said he cancelled his scheduled campaign rallies on Wednesday due to health reasons, ahead of landmark May 14 elections.

“Today, I will rest at home with the advice of my doctors,” Erdogan wrote on his Twitter account.

Late on Tuesday, Erdogan cut short a live TV interview during which he said he felt sick due to an upset stomach. [Reuters]

Earlier….. During a joint interview with Ulke TV and Kanal 7 on Tuesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had to abruptly pause the live broadcast and later apologized for his absence, citing a sudden bout of stomach flu. 

Erdogan, now 69, had been campaigning for the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections, and he had given three speeches earlier that day.

  1. Shit, Turkey said he had a stomach flu, China said he had a heart attack. I’m pretty sure the UN was pissed enough to kill him if “nature” doesn’t.

    Long story short, we’ll be replacing him with a different stooge in a couple of weeks.
