(Apologies – but the story is significant.)
My grandmother always laughed when Archie Bunker flushed the toilet.
All in the Family- Meathead and fat Sally still around
Bridget Loves Birney – Meredith Baxter went full lesbian.
Newhart still alive but recently lost his wife.
Mary Tyler Moore – I think entire cast is dead.
If true, that information on Tucker and Newsmax would be great.
That’s when cross-dressing was for laughs like Flip Wilson as Geraldine.
1973, I was a two-stripe Airman going through electronics and radar schools at Keesler AFB, MS. My wife and I lived in a one room studio apartment and poor as dirt. Watched all those shows regularly on a 12” B&W TV.
In 1973, 50 years ago next week Secretariat won the Kentucky Derby in 1:59
Still holds the record.
I didn’t watch TV in 1973 – but I guess I didn’t miss much!
1973 the Summer of the Watergate Hearings. I was in high school. Damn I’m old.
Carol Burnett guest starred on a few episodes of Better Call Saul, it was nice seeing her on TV again. I think she just turned 90.
“Those were the days”
Those were the days, my friend
We thought they’d never end
We’d sing and dance forever and a day
We’d live the life we choose
We’d fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way
(I love how people here remind me of music! Thanks Richard.)
Most of those are in syndication.
I’m watching Gunsmoke on Insp.
This needs to be YOUR Saturday night TV schedule here at the end of April 2023.
Neil Oliver outdoes himself this time. As sundance says, “Oh Snap, Did Neil Oliver Just Go Full Tucker Carlson?”
It’s been years since I described any video as “must watch”. This one is a MUST WATCH:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvDUgc-Kvtc
Uncle Al:
Neil Oliver is everyday required viewing.
Plus:
Coffee & Covid is everyday required reading.
@Mrs radiomattm:
Indeed he is! His commentary this time is extraextraordinary.
A 2023 Saturday night schedule is a some lame programs aired between the numerous ads for prescription drugs.
Every night’s schedule is constant ads for Rx drugs.
1973.
At least you got SOME EXERCISE Turning the TV ON/OFF/CHANEL CHANGING.
Then, for over 40 years it Became a THUMB WORKOUT.
Now, it is VERBAL COMMAND.
You can JUST FEEL YOUR ASS GROW!
Happy Sunday! (AKA – Anybody but Lewis Hamilton Day!)

Dish Network sent me their voice remote, I pulled the batteries, boxed it up and stuffed it into a cabinet. I routinely turn off the microphone on every device that has one, doubt that helps much but it’s a start.
I didn’t watch TV from 1974 to about the 90s, a look back tells me I didn’t miss much then either.
Ah , yes. We were more innocent back then.
Carol Burnett impersonating Charro is still etched in my head. I think my fist crush might have been Dolly Parton appearing on Hee Haw. I was a weird kid.
@ Anonymous. I can remember back in the “Good-Ole_Days” when it was illegal for pharma to advertise prescription drugs.
1973 – in college, lived off campus for $9 per week, bought 10 pot pies and box of potatoes for $2, kept me for a whole week. Walked to school, grocery store, laundry and part time job. Made enough money to pay $23 per week tuition. Ate a dozen Crispy Creams with Schlitz while watching Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits. Boy sure miss those days
Yesterday, I binge watched, “Tate.”
Bor,

I didn’t watch much TV in ’73. I was either busy working or was in Air Force basic training where there was no TV. I don’t think I missed a thing. In ’74/’75, I watched a fair amount of TV while stationed in the UK because it was either too cold or wet to be outside very much. Today, I watch YouTube videos about history and fixing things.
Thank you so, so much for this. I was a senior in high school in 1973 and have many fond memories of watching these programs during my hundreds of babysitting evenings. Fifty cents an hour, but I thought it was a fortune.
boy…were we naive or what?
Old Coot,
and they wouldn’t dare offend us by talking about hemorrhoids or vaginal itching or burying your AIDS carrier status so you could still pollinate the other mariposas in your ‘hood!
