‘Five Points’ was a thriving part of Denver that just happened to be where the Black community established themselves. There were many businesses that were supported by the surrounding white community. My Grandparents went there often to listen to jazz, blues and eat good ol’ southern cooking. Five Points was FULL of pride…..and then the civil rights movement crushed black family values and the area became a blight. The thriving black families just moved further east to the Park Hill neighborhood which continues to be very integrated and the Five Points area has become gentrified with the rich white yuppies buying up and restoring the beautiful victorian homes….the ghetto moved further east to Montbello, Aurora and Green Valley Ranch…..Candi CdeBaca is a racist asshole…

5 Points is a shithole, always has been as far as I know. The first home I ever owned was in the 2900 block of Welton. Bought a big old Victorian in the mid 70s but had nothing but fucking problems with blacks. The stories I could tell but at least they weren’t indiscriminately shooting.
