New York Times columnist John McWhorter wrote that he believes Jordan Neely, who died on the F train last week after being placed in a chokehold by another passenger, ‘did deserve restraint’.
Neely, who was homeless, was placed in a chokehold by former Marine Daniel Penny, 24, after acting erratically and shouting at passengers that ‘I don’t have food, I don’t have a drink, I’m fed up. I don’t mind going to jail and getting life in prison. I’m ready to die.’
Other passengers helped to restrain him until he went limp. He was then taken to a hospital by paramedics where he was declared dead.
McWhorter acknowledges that his opinion ‘may be unpopular’ but that he is fed up with feeling ‘terrified’ on the transit network, especially when accompanied by his two young daughters.
His caveated opinion reflects how the incident has divided New Yorkers, with some, including Democrat congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, labelling it murder, Others have argued the restraint was necessary.
The conservative columnist and Columbia University linguist wrote that it was ‘worth noting’ that Mr Neely had a history of violence against women, racking up three arrests for assaulting women in the subway system.
McWhorter lamented that the subway has become overrun with the homeless and mentally ill, who he says need specialist help, but that it must be acknowledged that these ‘almost always male’ passengers are ‘most likely to be directly confrontational with women.’
Finally, someone on the left that isn’t completely Neely-Jerk and has some sense of what is going on in those subways. It’s time for the sane and law-abiding to take back the city, and if that means snuffing out some urchins, so be it.
Law enforcement is a joke. Cops are terrified of losing their jobs or going to jail. Something needs to be done, and that marine did it.
He stepped up.
Punish him and the city is lost to the worst among us.
A MEDAL IS IN ORDER
Dude should be buried in an open casket wearing Michael Jackson’s zombie outfit from the Thriller video…
A fitting tribute
McWorter has always offered up sensible opinions on a lot of issues. If he wasn’t black, the piece of shit democrats would’ve smeared him as a “racist” and run him out of a job ages ago.
Look at the bright side. If they riot bigly, they could turn NYC into a heap of ashes.
I say to those George Floyders: riot your asses off.
This moron deserved to have his clock cleaned, which was done. Crazy or not, people understand pain.
AOC displays her high IQ – for a change
We got the tox screen from George Floyd pretty fast. Aside from the coroner declaring the death a homicide, where is the report identifying all the drugs in this guy’s system and how they contributed to his demise?
“Punish him and the city is lost to the worst among us”
As sure as the sun rises in the East and sets in the West, he will be charged and tried by woke SJW’s who understand that the mob must be fed.
And on a similar note, Daniel Perry just got 25 years for merely defending himself;

AOC needs an up close and personal demonstration of a choke hold maybe it will change her mind.
So crazy, filthy, druggy homeless guys can just walk onto the subway whenever they feel like it while people just going about their business have to pay for the experience of being hassled and threatened by them? Give the Marine a medal.
