Sleep Shooting?

Newser-

Some people suffer from sleepwalking; an Illinois man apparently has a problem with sleepshooting. Police say 62-year-old Lake Barrington resident Mark Dicara dreamed that someone had broken into his home and he shot the “intruder,” CBS reports. He woke up—presumably abruptly—to find that he had shot himself in the leg with his .357 Magnum. “The round discharged from the firearm went through Dicara’s leg and lodged itself into Dicara’s bedding,” police said in a press release. “Fortunately, the round did not travel through a shared wall with Dicara’s neighbors.”

Police said that when they arrived at the scene on April 10, Dicara was losing a “significant amount of blood.” He was hospitalized and officers confirmed there had been no burglary attempt. Dicara was arrested after investigators discovered that his Firearm Owners Identification card had been revoked.

  1. Lake Barrington UPSCALE… (couple towns over)

He’s got a problem with the FOID (Firearms Owners Identification Card) being revoked/expired. They said “Revoked” and if it was taken for cause it’s a bigger problem than a simple expiration. They’ll jerk him around plenty if he doesn’t have some connections with…

    Alcohol involved?

  3. Walled compound with security gates and guard shacks at every entrance. He might have a few dollars to take. Or maybe enough that they won’t prosecute.

He should tell them that his friend or relative is visiting with a valid card and left the gun while being out that evening when it happened. Then they could prosecute both if they really wanted to assholes. Welcome to the communist republic of Pritzkerstan.

  4. I remember reading several years ago about a dude that drove across town(Scottsdale,Az.?) in the middle of the night, shanked his mammy-n-law 27 times. Claimed somnambulism…and got off.

  5. Maybe 25 yrs ago my dad had a prescription for Ambien. Stepmother told me would wake up at night, go into the kitchen and make himself a sandwich, eat it, go back to bed and never remember any of it.
