Some of Johnny Cash’s music like Hurt, God’s Gonna Cut You Down etc. came near the end of his life and are some of the best songs that he ever recorded. Just like John Prine’s last album The Tree of Forgiveness with his song Boundless Love, they both looked like hell at their end of their troubled but redeemed lives and they saved their best music for last. I was a huge fan of both of them and their music and got to see both of them in concert years ago. And like Gordon Lightfoot they defined excellent country and folk music for a long time.
Johnny Cash also did Nine Inch Nails too.
Kind of the last thing he did, too.

He did several albums right before he passed, a lot of really interesting covers of more contemporary songs.
And some classics:

Funny that everyone in that video died and the house it was in burnt down not long after.
Everything shown no longer exists.

Johnny was a believer.
Johnny nails it. There’s also the ‘official’ video he did with Tom Petty.
