William Friedkin, the Oscar-winning director who became a top filmmaker in his 30s with the gripping The French Connection and the horrifying The Exorcist but struggled in the following decades to match his early success, has died. He was 87. Friedkin, who won the best director Oscar for The French Connection, died Monday in Los Angeles, his wife, producer and former studio head Sherry Lansing, told the Hollywood Reporter.
The Brink’s Job was pretty good too.
Great director, too bad they just don’t seem to make many of them any more. All they do is copy cat.
Love The French Connection.
Pre-woke Hollywood.
“Sorcerer” was one of his best movies. Absolutely riveting.
Godspeed, William Friedkin.
Some of the best movies came out in the early 70s. RIP
To Live & Die in LA
Rest in Peace
sorcerer, live and die in la, and of course the exorcist are my fav movies
Sorcerer’s sound track was done by Tangerine Dream. Great Music. The move was very good, but I never got the Sorcerer connection. My recollection was that it was about some truck drivers in Central America delivering dangerous cargos over rickety bridges.
They were carrying loads of TNT.
Exorcist was a great movie. Have to be in the mood for it though to deal with the implications of the story. Want my kids to appreciate it one day. I’ll have to look into his work.
That was back in the day when Hollywood was worth a shit, before all the faggotry surfaced that we are now seeing.
Sorcerer is an epic movie. So few have seen it or even know about it.
You pick your feet in Poughkeepsie?
RIP
The Sorcerer is a remake of The Wages of Fear… both are terrific! Roy Scheider is awesome and the soundtrack is super. But do check out The Wages of Fear sometime. It’s a bit more FilmNoir than the Sorcerer.
