The left hated Nixon for exposing Alger Hiss as a commie in the late 40’s and early 50’s and never forgave him for that let alone Vietnam which was far more LBJ’s fault. IF you had a chance to watch the Great American Dream Machine from the late 60’s and early 70’s on PBS (most of the episodes are on You Tube), they had the wackiest, most outrageous intro of any program ever. It only lasted for a couple of years, but it was a great program when I was young and in my late teens. Even my dad watched it with me and like it. Andy Rooney did an hr. long essay on the Vietnam War called An Essay On War about 1971 which I still remember, it was very thought provoking.

10. I remember NBC News used to open with an excerpt from Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. But otherwise, it hasn’t changed much. Some people offer up fond remembrances of Walter Cronkite, but he was just as bad as the others, particularly regarding the Vietnam War.
