The Sign of the Times – Corny Vernacular

I like Johnny Rivers, but listening to him use all the “hip lingo” is a bit cringey.

He sounds like Greg Brady.

I wonder if in 50 years videos of the vernacular of the day will seem this embarrassing.

A bonus from the same episode. Wolfman Jack sings a heartfelt anthem of unity- watch what he says at the queued up part. It’s hilarious.

  1. I liked some of Johnny Rivers songs. But he crapped up some of them with a faux party sound background – people singing and dancing and yelling, like in the Secret Agent Man.

Still, Secret Agent Man had some great lyrics, like this:

Swinging on the Riviera one day
And then lying in a Bombay alley next day.

    Swingin’ it, Man. 1965-66 style.

  2. I loved Midnight Special. Looked forward to it every week. I was watching it when I went into labor with our first. I waited until it was over before I woke Jim up. 🙂
