Scorsese says the story never got national attention even though there was a big spread about it in the New York Daily News (and probably other papers across the country as well). Have you seen the 1959 James Stewart movie, The FBI Story? It is one of the stories in that film.
I felt the commentary in the video had an air of “Let us educate you ignorant, racist Americans.” But the story DID get national attention that was sympathetic to the Osage. Hollywood people seem to think that because they are ignorant, we must be, too.

I read the book. Even if the book is halfway correct what happened to the Osage was despicable.

The thing with that video is, as I said, they say the story did not gain national attention and has been hidden from the public when that is far from the truth. It is an another Hollywood bludgeon against the country.
It is the old thing about how we cannot judge all Muslims by the terrorist actions of a small group, but if one evil white man does something, all white people for the next 500 years will be held personally accountable.
