MA: Gov. Healey facing criticism for illegal migrant hotel fire

(The Center Square) – Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey is facing criticism for “warehousing” migrants in “unsafe hotels” following a fire at a hotel housing asylum-seekers.

Critics warn the consequences could be much worse next time.

The fire broke out Wednesday at a Red Roof Inn in Sutton, where an estimated 50 migrant families are sheltered. The fire comes a week after state Sen. Ryan Fattman sent a letter to the commonwealth voicing his concerns over the condition of the hotel, citing past drug use and criminal activity. In addition, the hotel’s 911 system was not in compliance.

Fattman said the hotel is in a high-crime area, at high risk for sex crimes and dangerous criminal activity.

“This location is documented as high risk for drug trafficking, prostitution, weapons, and dangerous criminal offenses. In the past year, two level-three sex offenders habitated and/or were arrested at the dwelling where 21 migrant children now reside,” Fattman wrote. more

  1. Don’t care. The occupants are outlaws, that is to say, outside the protection of the law. And EMS.

First paragraphs above fail to address whether this area was “high crime” before or because of the new occupiers.

  2. The illegals probably lit the fires.
Our City Council, who all lack the spine to say no to illegals, just made a Howard Johnson’s a permanent shelter for at least another year.
I can’t imagine the dirt and bugs and grossness. One of the illegals ran their car through the wall because they can’t drive for beans.
If they ever go back to being a regular hotel they’ll have to at the very least gut it and start from new.

  3. I would assume all of the hotels/motels used for illegals will end up being burnt down.
How many of the ones use in NYC were scheduled for abatement to start with?
The twin towers were scheduled for abatement, it was easier to burn them down.
Plus they got a mighty fine war out if it. What ever happened to Saddam’s gold?
