Fruit Stripe gum, I bid you farewell. The brand, which has existed since the 1960s under various ownership, is finally disappearing. The multicolored gum, along with its zebra mascot Yipes, is being withdrawn, according to manufacturer Ferrera Candy, as reported by CBS MoneyWatch. The decision to discontinue this product was carefully researched, with several variables being evaluated, such as customer preferences, buying habits, and overall brand trends, according to the company’s statement that was sent to CNN.
Wet ‘n’ Wild gum came in five flavors: peach, lemon, cherry, orange, and melon. The sticks were striped with zebra patterns. As a result, Yups. An era has come to a close, according to John Finn of the @snack recollections account on X, who spoke with the Takeout. “Somehow, that dull, fluorescent, sweet gum manages to encapsulate childhood for countless generations in a manner that defies explanation.”
Just average? Indeed, that is unfortunate. Getting right to the point, Food & Wine’s Jelisa Castrodale writes, “If you call yourself an older millennial, then you definitely grew up with Fruit Stripe gum, its wildly erratic zebra mascot, and the brightly colored sticks of gum with bold fruit flavors that lasted almost as long as it took you to read this sentence.” A food and wine writer. Very nearly. If you want to know the same thing, watch this Family Guy humor.
Loved it but the Flavor only lasted about 20 seconds!
I loved that gum, but the flavor was so good I ended up eating it like candy.
But with a little looking I can still find Teaberry, Clove and Black Jack.
This is good. I probably won’t notice the difference, but maybe this will mean just a slight decrease in the number of nasty wads of used gum deposited maliciously by nasty, cretinous, uncivilized brats.
Note: brats come in all ages.
I’m surprised the homos didn’t adopt it as their snack of choice.
Homos prefer dick shaped lollypops from what I’ve heard from some anonys around here.
Well, sad. I feel old.
Girls in elementary school saved up the wrappers to make gum chains… something to work on under the desk instead of paying attention to the teacher.
The gay lobby will be furious.

If you have a Big Lots in your area, in the summer they bring in a lot of the nostalgic candy that we had as kids. Black Jack gum is one of them. I bought a pack of it and sent it to my sister in Texas last summer.
This is sad. I actually did a painting called: “Fruit Stripe Zebra” — 96 W x 24 H x 0.1 D in
