I have a goofy niece who was groaning the other day about how she can’t afford to live. She got pregnant at 21 while parting at the beach. The father married her under extreme duress from his parents but committed suicide a few years later by hanging himself in front of her and his daughter. Not long after that, she got pregnant by another very young loser who wasn’t even working. Twin daughters were the result of that decision. (naturally) He never married her and is now 75 grand behind in child support. From the time she was old enough to secure a car loan, she has bought a brand-new car every 18 months because “I deserve it!”. She’s had more new cars than me and I’m seventy. She was gifted a nice home by mom and step-dad but blows money on stupid things like a $2500 bicycle because her friends were doing that. She bought a $4000 puppy because it was just “so cute”. She did that after begging for money from mom for new tires because she couldn’t afford them. She is forty-one with three kids, tons of debt and a serious medical condition that causes seizures, from her partying days no doubt, and can’t understand why rich doctors aren’t lining up to ask for her hand in marriage. She thinks she’s a real catch.
