Bubonic Plague in Oregon – IOTW Report

Bubonic Plague in Oregon

We’ve been suffering from the Boob Biden Plague for far too long.

DM-

Oregon officials are rushing to contain an outbreak of bubonic plague after announcing the state’s first case since 2015.

The unidentified resident is believed to have contracted the plague from their symptomatic cat, health officials said on Wednesday.

‘All close contacts of the resident and their pet have been contacted and provided medication to prevent illness,’ Dr. Richard Fawcett, the Deschutes County health officer said in a statement.

No additional cases of plague have emerged during the communicable disease investigation, according to officials.

This is the first case of bubonic plague in Oregon since a 16-year-old contracted the disease in 2015.

The teenager fell ill after being bitten by an infected flea during a hunting trip near Heppner, Morrow County.

There had been eight cases in the state in the previous 20 years, with none leading to deaths.

In 2012, an Oregon man lost his fingers and toes to the plague. He also contracted the disease from his cat after trying to remove a mouse from his cat’s throat.

  1. My buddy and approached a family of crackers and ask if they would like us to help solve their rock chuck problem. Their place was lousy with the bastards, they even had them living in the crawl space. Hippies, fresh out of Portland. They had flour sack diapers on the kids and it was a hell of a situation.

Oh no! They are our pets.

Fast forward 12 months and when we are driving past there is nothing left but a foundation and scorched earth. So I asks a rancher buddy who lives up the coulee WTF? Seems the kids came down with sylvatic fever and the health department had investigated and decided to burn the whole shiterie to the waterline.

  2. It’s not that uncommon of a disease to show up in Western States. They shut down Yosemite and a few other State/Federal parks due to an outbreak in years past. I believe there was one in 2015, 2016, and 2017. Rodents are the biggest carriers of the plague (squirrels, chipmunbks, rats).
