Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is feeling the heat from within conservative circles to fight back after calling attention to President Biden opposing a bill that would prevent illegal aliens from voting.
Known as the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, or the SAVE Act, the bill would amend the National Voter Registration Act and require proof of citizenship before registering to vote. It would also purge noncitizens from voter rolls.
“It is already illegal for noncitizens to vote in Federal elections — it is a Federal crime punishable by prison and fines,” the White House said in a statement on Monday. “The alleged justification for this bill is based on easily disproven falsehoods.” more
Establishment Republicans are as bad or worse on illegal alien immigration than any Democrat. Johnson is the epitome of establishment Republican. You do the math.
