I spent YEARS in in fine (and other) dining. Just about EVERY “high-end” Chef, for whom I worked, had this sort of attitude for the paying diners who might not have shared the Chef’s vision of how food should taste. They referred to diners as “heathens”, “the culinary illiterate”, or worse in the back of the house but would kiss-ass out front. I believe that if the people who pay your salary don’t like your food, that’s a “you” problem not a “them” problem.

Whether you spend your money somewhere else, or spend it nowhere, the message is clear and the business you DO NOT SUPPORT does not have your support. There was a short-lived Italian place here. We ate there once. The food was so salty we actually thought someone had sabotaged the marinara. We complained to the manager who scoffed “Italian food is supposed to be a little salty. Maybe you’re not used to real Italian cooking.”
