That was really fascinating! A really incredible creation. Thank you for posting that.
Has anyone here seen the sculpture in person?
I have not. I am boycotting until I am included on it.
lol
I’ve seen it several times. The most thrilling time was when my friend and I took a helicopter ride around the area. I have a great photo of the monument from the air.
The Flatirons, near Boulder, CO are a similarly impressive feat of engineering, constructed as a Depression-era public works project. 🙂

@Claudia
Same! It’s been…like 30 years or so ago. Took a helicopter around Mt Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial (which was barely started then-now it actually looks like something). Deadwood was a hoot too!
Ha ha, Left Coast Dan! I once flew in a glider through the flatirons. For a minute it looked like the plane was down in them too deep to get out, but the pilot knew a path through. Soon, we were gliding over Boulder and he let me fly for a bit.
Yes as a child about age 10 parents took me to Yellowstone and this an attraction on the way. There was a visitor center with an impressive open top front verandah beyond large glass doors and windows for viewing inside and then you go outside and it was impressive! It’s just like it was seen in Hitchcock’s North by Northwest with Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint. Though I seem to think I’ve read the visitor center has been somewhat changed. Time for DJT’s spot, God willing!
Those workers were tough as nails. They also probably suffered severe physical ailments due to working on that project, including silica damage to their lungs and joint and cartilage damage due to the high energy vibration of the hammers.

Didn’t pelosi say biden* belongs on Mount Rushmore?
I’d like to toss both of those old, sick bastards off of Teddy’s head…
When America was great.
As an eight year old in 1967 my mother, sister and myself drove there in a 63 Ford Falcon to visit my Mom’s childhood friend and her family. My eight year old brain would swear it took a few weeks to get there but to this day my Mom insists it was only two days.
Been there but it’s been awhile.
Something to see ‘up close’.
My sister and I drove my Mom crazy to the point she stopped at a Stuckys (remember them?) and bought us a bunch of travel games to shut us up.
I’m looking at it right now! Although the smoke is obscuring it a little.
