Dr. Jon Kosloski, the director of the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), which is tasked with investigating UFOs, or what the Pentagon calls unidentified anomalous phenomena (UPA), says that the object was not anomalous — or out of the ordinary — and hovering over the water but was in fact 13,000 feet above the sea.
He said the phenomenon was caused by a trick of the eye” called parallax, which made it look like the object is moving much faster. More
Members of Congress have not so sanguine with AARO explanations:
“AARO is unable, or perhaps unwilling, to bring forward the truth about the government’s activities concerning UAPs,” Representative Nancy Mace (R-South Carolina) said during the hearing’s opening remarks. “I’m disturbed that AARO itself lacks transparency; even its budget is kept from the public. So if there is no ‘there’ there, then why are we spending money on it? And by how much? Why the secrecy?” More
Swamp gas again.
That’s what an alien would say.
It seems to me the “expert” didn’t actually explain what the UFO was only that it’s movement and altitude weren’t what it appeared. Did I miss something here and the guy declared it was a goose or whale or something completely unremarkable?
My father was an Air Force navigator in the Vietnam war, among other things. He retired after 20 years of service.
He describe a very likely UFO event when he was service inside a nuclear SILO bunker on his death bed. He passed that night.
For years, whenever UFO’s came up, he stated that ANY pilot with any significant flight experience has seen multiple UFOs. If they deny this, they are liars.
The universe is much too vast to only have one planet containing life existing within it.
Got my Private Pilots License in 1974 and have been flying ever since.
Believe me, there are a lot of unexplained things in the air that defies explanation
I’ve seen thousands of UFOs in the movies. Why on earth would aliens want anything to do with unpredictable humans or a tired worn out earth. ???
^^^ This.
The universe is so fucking huge that Earth is only a dirty gas station off of I-95. I seriously doubt we are that important.
I’m surprised they didn’t say it was weather balloon.
And a Chinese weather balloon at that.
Intelligent live exists elsewhere in the universe IMO but also IMO few people appreciate the barriers to useful travel between star systems.
Unless/until a civilization discovers a way to circumvent the cosmic speed limit of c, and human research has revealed not even a faint hint of that so far, even the communication time lag between points A and B is equal to the distance in light years. 20 light years apart? 20 years for a message to transit. And another 20 to get an answer. The Milky Way galaxy is roughly 100,000 light years across and it’s just one insignificant galaxy in a universe containing from 100,000,000,000 to 2,000,000,000,000 galaxies.
Physical travel is even more daunting because the inherent duration is still limited by c, but the energy needed to accelerate to a speed close enough to c to make a big difference is astonishingly large. Plus, not only do you have to get up to speed, you have to slow down at the end of the journey which will take just as much energy as the beginning.
Finally, when considering whether we’re seeing signs of non-Terrestrial life, we bump into the Dark Forest theory. Look it up.
Oh, and parallax isn’t a “trick of the eye.” It’s a well understood property of three-dimensional space.

“Intelligent live exists elsewhere in the universe ”
We ARE intelligent. That’s why we don’t stop at your planet.

I love Monty Python, I watched the above video and the every sperm is sacred skit afterwards. When my wife and I first saw that my wife being an ex-Catholic she laughed harder than any time than I ever went to a movie with her. I had never seen her laugh so hard, of course she came from a large American/English Catholic family of 9, 6 boys and 3 girls so that probably had a lot to do with it. My wife loved British humor, Saving Grace was one of her favorites.
I served in the 544th Aerospace Reconnaissance Technical Wing of the United States Air Force as an Imagery Interpreter Specialist. My collogues and I always marveled at the willingness of people to believe in aliens from other worlds.
