The Secret Service fired multiple shots outside the home of Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen early Tuesday morning.

Carjackers were trying to break into vehicles near Yellen’s mansion in Northwest Washington, D.C. when a uniformed Secret Service agent discharged their weapon sometime shortly after 1:00 a.m.

The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. It is unclear if they were injured during the incident, but so far it appears they have not been apprehended.

Senior law enforcement officials are calling the incident an ‘agent involved shooting,’ according to multiple reports. More

  1. The professional criminals in DC get taxpayer-paid protection from the amateur criminals, while the rest of the nation has to fight regularly to maintain their right to defend themselves.

I remember them telling us that it’s illegal for us to shoot their pet constituents while they are committing property crimes.

  3. Obviously it was on a level street where this took place.
Had it been on a sloped driveway or a hill the criminal could have proceeded as the secret service would have been rendered inoperable.

And if you or I did that we would lose our carry permits and be prosecuted for being stupid in public. 1:00 am is usually pretty dark. I wonder what their back stop was?

  5. Unless extenuating circumstances existed not mentioned in the article, this was a bad shoot. There are policies in place for when you can use deadly force. This also placed all residences in the area in danger needlessly.

Disciplinary action would normally involve a letter of reprimand or censure placed in his service file, but if the shooter was a woman or black, I suspect it would be swept under the rug and forgotten, like Michael Byrd.

How about let’s stop with the languagejacking.

(And why does Janet Yellen have/need/merit Secret Service protection?
