Moscow said on Friday that its forces had recaptured another village in their drive to dislodge Ukrainian forces from their last remaining footholds inside Russia’s Kursk region.
The defence ministry said Russian troops had retaken Goncharovka, one of only a handful of settlements still in Ukrainian hands. There was no immediate comment from Kyiv. More

After a daring maneuver, the Russian military have completely surrounded Ukraine forces in the Kursk region. The Ukraine soldiers seemingly have been instructed to continue trying to fight on behalf of Zelenskyy.
President Trump is asking Russian President Vladimir Putin to spare the lives of the Ukraine troops. More
Update: Putin’s response
I’ve been following this since the Rusky’s locked them down. Some brilliant strategy there by the way. The Russian gave all 10,000 of them an opportunity to surrender, They refused. This has been going on for over a week. Right now Putin is the calm cool and collect.
In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, we pray that the encircled soldiers receive Guidance to lay down their weapons and surrender so that they may return to their families and communities in peace. Amen.
Just a thought – since the Soviet Union collapsed beginning with the Berlin Wall takedown that the Citizens of the Former Soviet Union be invited to join the rest of us in the Western World , ONLY without Mr. Putin .
If I were a young man, I would move to Ukraine after this war is finally over. Zelensky has murdered all the young men. You’d have your pick of the women.
This is a big deal out here in the real world. Those troops are inside Russia proper; Russia that existed before the war with Ukraine broke out. They are fully, completely, and absolutely surrounded. Total encirclement. NONE of them has any chance at all of surviving if they decide to fight it out.
President Putin knows those troops have committed not only acts of war against Russia, but also atrocities against civilians in Kursk. For President Putin to publicly agree to the request from President Trump is an extraordinary thing. Putin and Russia gain NOTHING from this act of kindness; yet they are doing it nonetheless. Let that sink-in for a moment.
Now we will see if Ukraine gives the order for the troops to surrender. If they do, then that will be a sign that Ukraine is coming to its senses. If they don’t – or refuse to give the order – Russia will have no choice but to kill them all.

Bad_Brad , Have heard this before in my generation: “Where Have All the Flowers Gone”?
Let’s see who is humanitarian and who is not.
Geni
They’re genociding their own people for profit. They have goon squads snatching young men off the street forcing them to fight. And yet the EU will tell you Putin is the bad guy here. If we’re going to partner with someone in that region it had better be Russia. I’ve been reading for ever now that the EU has to destroy Putin because he won’t join their pathetic little NWO or their world bank. After Trump get through with the EU the majority of those countries will be dead broke. That’s probably the only way to dethrone these evil bastards. But the real victims here are the Ukrainian people. And he is killing off at least half the young male population.
In my view Putin seems to be a more credible representative of the warring factions than Zelensky ever was or will ever be. As Putin says in this statement I believe he would treat surrendering Ukrainian troops with the care and dignity they deserve. In this whole outrageous event there are no good guys! And I am of the belief that NATO and the US may be among the bad guys.

Geni, the best cover of Where Have All The Flowers Gone in my opinion is sung by Dolores Keane one of my favorite Irish woman musicians. Her version is a very haunting almost lament like Celtic version of that song. The original version was played so many times on AM radio in the pre-Vietnam war era of the early 60’s that it was almost an earworm. It’s one of those songs that has never gone away but always in the back of my head somewhere because of all the killing and fighting and needless deaths of those tumultuous times. Sort of like where we are now with the war between Russia and Ukraine.
I understand PDT’s request for mercy in the invaders, the Ukrop wat criminals showed no mercy to the civilians of the Kursk region. And the soldiers yaling part in the invasion were not poor, bedraggled untrained conscripts. They were the best Ukraine had, and chock full of fanatical murderous Nazi Banderites. 7elensky bet the farm on this ploy, and he lost big time.
Sometimes I wonder how much of the truth about Ukraine’s war crimes makes it to Trump’s desk. Certainly nothing the neocons and other warhawks want to mention, and nothing our media will ever admit. But Russia is keeping a tally and building a dossier. There will be some justice one way or another.
