A Minnesota woman in her 80s is now living with stage 5 kidney disease after a surgeon allegedly removed her kidney during what was supposed to be a routine spleen removal procedure, according to a recently filed lawsuit.
Wendy Rappaport of Plymouth, Minnesota, went to Abbott Northwestern Hospital in March 2022 for treatment of a spleen condition. However, the surgery took an unexpected turn when the surgeon removed her left kidney instead of her spleen, the court documents filed on May 16 claimed.
“The wrong organ was removed,” Rappaport’s attorney Aaron Lawrence told ABC News. More
I thot the term wuz oopsi-poopsi.
I can think of a couple of Dr. Devon Callahan’s organs that I’d like to remove, and it wouldn’t be a mistake. Pocket knife and plumber’s soldering iron, hack-sizzle-done.
He probably had a recipient who would pay him a lot of money to get him a kidney.
Take it from an 80 year old woman, give it to the recipient, get his money, then hightail it out of the country.
Or not.
$$$,$$$,$$$!!!
DEI surgeon?
They probably figured she’d never miss it.
Maybe the woman should have marked herself with a sharpie.

@The Fly — DEI was my first thought, too, but with a name like Devon Callahan he’s more likely a drunk Irishman.
No offense meant. Some of my best friends are drunk Irishmen (but none of them are surgeons or airline pilots).
Did he eat it with some fava beans and a nice Chianti?

Medical malpractice is the third leading cause of death 8n the US. Thank god the FDA, etc keep all the superior alternatives from ever getting a foothold or delivering REAL OPTIONS to customers.
This appears to be the doctor, apparently still “practicing”.

My father had a colonoscopy and they perforated his colon and died. Good friend had heart assist pump and lost his leg, one day later he lost the other leg for the same reason. My business partner got a staff infection during routine surgery to remove gall bladder and died from sepsis. Mother had thyroid surgery and they severed her vocal chords. I told my neighbor if I was ever in need of surgery help my wife take me up to my roof and throw me off.
Can you say nosocomial, boys and girls?
How about iatrogenic?
Good! I knew that you could!
DEI surgeons are like DEI air traffic controllers.
My friend had hip replacement but wasn’t getting better. Went to a different doctor for advice. Rushed to surgery because the first surgeon had installed hip improperly. Turned out the surgeon went from the OR that day directly to drug rehab. Should not have been operating under the influence. Was supposed to be supervised but wasn’t. Friend got $$$ $$$ from Dr and his medical group.
Like others, my first thought was dei doc.
Younger docs concern me. With AI some aren’t writing their own papers or being trained in actual surgeries.
