Former New York Congressman Charles Rangel Dead at 94

Breitbart: NEW YORK (AP) — Former U.S. Rep. Charles Rangel of New York, an outspoken, gravel-voiced Harlem Democrat who spent nearly five decades on Capitol Hill and was a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus, died Monday at age 94.

His family confirmed the death in a statement provided by City College of New York spokesperson Michelle Stent. He died at a hospital in New York, Stent said.

A veteran of the Korean War, he defeated legendary Harlem politician Adam Clayton Powell in 1970 to start his congressional career. During the next 40-plus years, he became a legend himself as dean of the New York congressional delegation and, in 2007, the first African American to chair the powerful Ways and Means Committee. more

  1. BANJOWILLY, I GET IT AND CERTAINLY WAS FAR APART FROM THIS DUDE ON THE ISSUES

HOWEVER, ON MEMORIAL DAY, DEDICATED TO THOSE WHO FOUGHT AND DIED ON THE BATTLEFIELD, RANGEL WAS AT LEAST A COMBAT VET (KOREA), DID COME HOME BUT WITH (I THINK) BRONZE STAR AND PURPLE HEART

SO, I WILL SAY REST IN PEACE, MR RANGEL

You’re welcome to laud him in any way you see fit. This is America and you have that right. I too am a combat veteran. That doesn’t change anything about me, so toss your guilt somewhere else. He was a dishonest, money grubbing, for sale grifter who took advantage of his high position, and like so many others, screwed over America

  4. I know he passed, and we should just let this go, but the articles saying he is “legendary” congressman have a short memory problem.

“Charlie Rangel faced multiple ethics violations, including failing to report income, soliciting donations using congressional resources, and misusing a rent-controlled apartment. He was found guilty of 11 out of 13 charges, but the ethics committee stated there was no evidence of corruption, only financial negligence.”

  5. Besides his service take a look at what this scumbag did in regards to the assassination of NYPD Police Officer Philip Cardillo. It occurred in Harlem, the 25Pct decades ago inside of Mosque #7. The muzzies called in a “10-13” which is Officer needs everyone, you hope to never hear that call. Handful of Officers ran inside and they savages locked the door behind them pummeling the Officers. Apparently that was not enough, as Officer Cardillo lay bleeding and basically unconscious one of the muzzies removed his .38 from his holster, lifted his head and pumped a few round into it, killing him.

PD had 16 suspects locked in a basement room and wanted to cuff em like a daisy chain and walk em out. Rangel and i think Farakhan said no way. So they had an agreement, they would bring the perps down the 25Pct…..never happened. Here is the kicker, they washed up the crime scene so zero evidence was recovered. Not all war “heroes” are good people

So in closing, if you guys didn’t know now you do. Retired Det wrote all about it, book is called “Circle of Six”. My mother thanked me when i gave it to her to read but said she has never been so infuriated in her life about such a thing. Guess it’s because two of her boys and all their friends went on to become NYPD Officers and thankfully we made it outta there
