President Donald Trump was confronted with an acronym pointed at his trade policies this week — and while it may sound tasty, the phrase appeared to leave a bad taste in the president’s mouth.
“TACO trade,” which stands for “Trump always chickens out,” was coined by Financial Times columnist Robert Armstrong but has since spread across Wall Street and the internet, mocking the president’s back-and-forth on tariff policies.
The sentiment behind the phrase is that despite levying steep tariffs against countries, specifically China and European Union nations, Trump has repeatedly pushed back deadlines, lowered tariff percentages and backed off from initial demands, according to Armstrong. More
TACO trade is all over REDITT. The dumb shits think they came up with something clever. The amount of money Trump has gotten committed to our economy through using tariffs like a knife is jaw dropping. And nobody covers it. Not even FOX. WTF?
Here’s a running total.

Fox Business covers trade from end to end. FNC needs their own Kudlow and Payne. It’s too bad Sowell doesn’t have a regular spot on FNC’s top 3 shows.
Baritoromo always has the president’s economy guys on. I like Sunday Morning Futures because of her in-depth coverage. But it’s so wonky, it couldn’t hold the average liberal for more than a few minutes.
…in fact you’d have to start with basic economic theories — like the fundamental differences between Keynes and Hayak — before CNN or MSNBC could even report on Trump’s trade policies in an understandable way. The Left doesn’t have a head for that stuff. All they know is that money magically comes from the gov’t and goes to “services”. There should be 3 economic views: Wall Street, Main Street, and the Left’s favorite, Easy Street.
” All they know is that money magically comes from the gov’t ”
And magically makes it down to their parents basement where they live. That’s your 27%. By the way I’ve been saying 28%, and shrinking, for a long time so we’re close.
bad brad thanks for the link
I don’t understand why all these folks are against tariffs.
Tariffs funded the US long before income tax.
Trumps negotiations are his way of bargaining to get the best deal for the US while encouraging companies to stay in the states. Walmart started this attack on US based companies. LR Nelson made sprinklers and other lawn equipment. Good quality. So Walmart told them to manufacture in China or Walmart would not sell their products. They did and put dozens out of work along with their suppliers.
The only time I shop at Walmart is if I need an item that no where else available. Walmart put Kmart out of business and I really miss Kmart.
Walmart was all about Made in the USA until Sam passed.
That was replaced by profit margins.
I used to like Walmart many years ago.
@Anon1835 — They’re against tariffs because (1) Trump is for tariffs, and (2) he’s using them to interrupt and dismantle the global system of ripoffs, money laundering, graft, kickbacks, and gravy trains.
That is a form of goading. Hope Trump doesn’t go in for it. When a weakling taunts it is as the honking of a goose, loud but insignificant. Now, getting pecked in the genitals by an angry goose is definitely not insignificant but that isn’t what we’re talking about.
