PepsiCo’s top executive indicated on July 17 that the company may switch Pepsi’s sweetener from high-fructose corn syrup to sugar, one day after President Donald Trump said Coca-Cola would soon be making the change.

“Same journey that we have in foods, we’re following in beverages. This is a consumer-centric strategy. We’re following the consumer,” Ramon Laguarta, PepsiCo’s CEO, told investors on a call after being asked about Trump’s announcement. more here

  1. “following the consumer”??? Oh yeah, I remember the upswell in consumers demanding high fructose corn syrup and weird dyes & additives in freakin soda pop. Soda companies are the ghetto version of Big Pharma.

    Anyone who drinks this shit, whether flavored with HFCS or sugar is flat out stupid. I continue to see carts full of this crap while shopping. It’s GD poison.

  2. They weren’t following the consumer when they put HFCS into all the foods. It was pure $$$$ and trying to deal with government-created increases in sugar costs resulting from sugar quotas and tariffs on imported sugar, combined with huge subsidies to the corn growing and processing industry. One has to wonder if, much the same way seed oils were pushed by the medical establishment over animal fats, if this garbage was pushed behind the scenes to drive up diabetes and cancer rates along with all the other health issues now known.
