The whole organ transplant racket is authoritarian and communistic. TPTB treat MY organs as THEIR property, and they make a lot, I mean A LOT, of money at it. As soon as I’m legally recognized as self-owning, and either I or my estate can be directly compensated…PAID…for those valuable pieces of flesh, THEN I’ll sign the donor card. Not before!
And this business of yanking your organs before you’re quite done using them should be a criminal offense. Specifically, murder.
I used to have on my drivers license an Organ Donor endorsement. I had that removed the last time I renewed my license.

My brother is on the list through the VA for a kidney but they still use the same system.
I heard they charge the family for the surgery to remove the organs too. I don’t know if that’s true or not.
Let’s be clear…EVERYONE in the entire process benefits financially EXCEPT THE DONOR (or their family). Everyone complains about organ shortages, but nobody wants to do anything about incentivizing donations, specifically with money. Oh, if you have money and stay off the books, you can pay for organs and get what you need. But we pretend that everyone involved is altruistic because they need to keep the appearance of nobility, while doctors and the test make tens if not hundreds of thousands off every transplant. The prospective donor gets nothing, and in most cases their insurance has to pay for the tests and even the surgery to remove the organ. I appreciate the potential for abuse, but if everything was above board, legitimate, paid for organs would be the norm, supply would go way up, and lots of current issues would vanish. Unfortunately fundamental issues like this will NEVER be brought up…just more hand wringing over short supplies of donors.
