Target’s woke CEO Brian Cornell resigned on Wednesday amid declining sales.

Brian Cornell resigned after 11 years at Target and will be replaced by the company’s COO Michael Fiddelke.

The retail giant’s stock was down 10% on Wednesday – shares are down 22% this year.

  4. I remember in the past when almost all Target Stores were closed down and the company filed for bankruptcy. History will repeat itself again only this time let the doors on the Target Stores be closed and locked, never to be re-opened ever again.   7. I’ve shopped at W.T. Grant, Big N, Ames, Bradley’s, Caldor, Lechmere, K Mart, Sears, JCP, and Walmart.

    Never shopped at Target; I think I’ll survive it’s demise.

    …while I do help package things that may be sold at a Target, no, I never worked directly for them.

    …besides, the pattern you see is an incomplete one.

    Everyplace I ever worked (except for the muni FD) is out of business…but it only happened AFTER I left.

    So a company is fine as long as Im there.

    But its a harbinger of doom when I leave…

    …as much as I wish that were true, KMart jumped the shark when they merged with Sears, Eddie Lampert would have wrecked Sears whether I was there or not, and Anazon finished off the strip malls and shopping malls both resided in.

    Also my first job in a mom-and-pop Formosan restaurant no longer exists, but that was really an immigration conduit configured as a restaurant and, once the family was all over here, the parents retired and the kids didnt want to run it, so closed it goes. I did go there their last night and bought a tile landscape off the wall and one of the elaborite Chinese lanterns they hung over the tables, and I still have both.

    But I couldnt have prevented their demise by my presence either.

    …so I could claim I had good quitting sense, but it wasnt that; rather, it was the good Lord redirecting me without me knowing when I needed to be redirected, and to God be the glory.

    Postscript:
    While the FD I once ran with still exists, they got rid of every piece of apparatus I ever rode on and no one I ran with is with them any more, so maybe Im more toxic than I thought…

  18. I quit Target when the stopped the Salvation Army Kettles being allowed to collect at Christmas time outside their door. I was disappointed I couldn’t quit them twice when bowed to the gay mafia.

  22. Last grasp of Sears was selling the auto tool line. The only thing I would sometimes buy there.
    Now the tools have changed somewhat into a very uncomfortable shape that are out of balance in your hand.

    …they ruined the DieHard battery long before that. They used to be their own thing when they had proprietary raised letter cases and were really good, but then one day they started shipping us regular ass Gould batteries with stickers that said “DieHard” on them and were total crap, and they just got cheaper and chintzier from there.

    Also, the Craftsman tools took a nosedive in quality about the same time because they quit making them in America and just bought Chinese instead. I was there as a brake and alignment guy mostly, and even though I got a pretty good discount the only Craftsman in MY box was pre-1980;otherwise, it was Snap-On and some Mac.

    Fun fact: Sears HATED our Snap-On and Mac and Matco toolboxes, and went through a phase where they actually made us cover the logos up if they werent Craftsman. Eventually they gave up on that because of how stupid it looked and how obvious it was, but since only tire busters had Craftsman boxes it really wasnt a good look.

    …I also did AC work until Al Gore with some help from a New Jersey wrecked Sears’ shit over Freon, but thats a different story for another day…
